And when I flip it, I just get shit all over the counter.

I think I'll be fine just washing it off since I have to do that
anyway. The other side isn't usable anyway. If it was, I would
just put 4 more discrete dabs down on the other side and skip the
middle one. And than I have a two-sided cutting board.

Women <rolling eyes>. I swear... Wet dish towels every time I
want to cut something - sheesh!

At any given hour, exactly. Then it gets rinsed and/or washed
before the next meal or prep.

You can easily do that in a discrete corner if you REALLY worried
about contaminating the other ingredients that will be put in
wityh that garlic anyway - most likely.

Garlic takes up less than 1sq-in of space on the cutting board.
Your method of flipping, you just garlic juice all over your dish
towel or counter.

Total time was about 6 minutes.

What is it with woman and dish towels. Why put up with the
problem EVERY TIME you use the cuttings boards. That's just
stupid! Fix it once and don't have to deal with it again.

You women obviously don't use your cuttings boards as often as we
men do

If a wet dish towel isn't your cup of tea then try a wet paper towel or the
shelf liner stuff.

Doesn't everybody wash their cutting boards after every use?? If they're
wooden at least a quick rinse?

You have only one cutting board? A large one that you use three times a
day? That doesn't sound very practical.

Not in my experience. Maybe you need to use more garlic in your
cooking.

I don't need a dish towel, because all of my cutting boards lie flat.
The counter is cleaned after cooking regardless of whether I've flipped
a cutting board or not.

The 1 sq inch obviously not quite true,
same you tell someone on phone, "Hold on a second while I..."
It always takes more than a second.

Anyway, I often smash, remove paper skin then mince cloves on
my cutting board. Always near the edge of the board so the
handle of my Chef's knife is beyond the edge and the blade will smash
completely flat.

The rest of the board is fine to continue cutting other things.
I've never flipped over a cutting board to mess up both sides.
That sounds like a silly Sheldon theory.

See Cindy, even you aren't always so "practical."

Sometimes I only need a small cutting board.

I've got three 7.25 x 10.75 cutting boards and two 9 x 12.9 (that must
be a conversion from some sort of metric measurement).

With two people cooking, it's prudent to have spares.

I also have a cutting board that's trimmed to fit inside my
stainless-steel platter (good for carving a turkey); both the platter
and the cutting board go into the dishwasher for cleaning. And a
12 x 17 that I get out when I really need a lot of real estate.

What's practical for you might not be practical for me.

Hey, just because I'm a woman, don't lump me in with those who put damp
dish towels underneath a cutting board. Then again, I don't have a
problem with slippery cutting boards.

For perhaps the first time ever, I'm quoting three people. I have never
considered that I was using my cutting boards "wrong".
After this thread, I've become "aware"! I'm not going to do anything
about it, but I'm "aware", and awareness is important nowadays!

I've never had a problem with a slippery cutting board, whether wood
or plastic... perhaps if people washed their boards to get the slimey
grease off.

Does that mean you're "woke", Leo? LOLOL

I've never had any sort of problem with a cutting board sliding around
on the kitchen counter requiring any sort of kitchen hack solution. I
must be very "un-woke". ;)

Popeye, yoose board don't slide. Hell it's 3X5 ft, and probably
weighs 100 lb, right?
