Kroger has been having 4X gas points if you shop Friday, Saturday, or
Sunday if you download that coupon to your Kroger card. I've been a
willing participant each Friday and today I filled up using my points for
$1.85 off each gallon I bought. That brought high test gas down to
$1.98⁹ per gallon which I've not seen any gas that cheap for forever.
Anyway, I'm starting on another month of 4X gas points or as long
as they offer it.

I bought a Costco membership today, then filled
up for about 35 cents a gallon less than the next
cheapest gas around here. I figure that gas alone
will save far more than the $60 a year membership.
the only other things I'll likely buy there are their $5
rotisserie chickens, and sometimes milk and eggs.

Here, you can combine Harris Teeter points with Kroger and use either
ones gas stations. I'm not sure if you have Harris Teeter where you
are though.

I have almost $2 off/gal at the Giant Eagle gas stations. I think I'll
take my gas hungry pickup truck and a couple of 5 gallon cans with me
when I fill up. You can get the discount price on up to 30 gallons of
fuel... the truck holds 20 gallons from empty, at most.

When I used to shop and Sams club, I only went because they offered me a
$45 gift card (same price as renewal) to renew. They haven't done that
this year, so I let the membership lapse. Anyway, I didn't buy much,
but one of the few things that I got were huge packs of butter sticks,
which were way cheaper than the grocer. You might want to check on
butter when you are there. I usually got eggs also, but I can't freeze
eggs like I can freeze butter.

The Harris Teeter that was slated to take over the old Publix
Supermarket location backed out of the deal. Rumor has it they got into
a snit because a local ordinance would not allow them to remove the old
live oak trees in the parking lot. This was after they demolished the
old Publix building.

None of the grocery stores/supermarkets have gas pumps and they aren't
located next to or affiliated with any nearby gas stations.

My local Harris Teeter store doesn't have gas pumps but a very nearby
gas station will accept them.

I paid $3.61 at Meijer yesterday. No spyware app required. Oil speculators taking a NYC Holiday. And no school for 4 days, school based traffic in America uses the most gas.

Prices were down here, went back up a bit last week and were back down
even more today. I was out running errands and noticed the prices. I
figured that with colder weather coming I would wait until I was closer
to home. That meant going to an Esso station instead of some of the
cheaper outlets, but I have found I get better mileage with the Esso
gas. I was surprised to see that the Esso was actually 4 cents per lite
cheaper than the discount gas stations.

Exxon bought Mobil after their Alaska "mishap". Now the Exxon brand is returning to some stations. Arco has appeared in Illinois after 40+ years. I guess owner BP is experimenting where folks got bad mixes from their Indiana refinery.

Coming back from the grocery store yesterday high test at Kroger was $3.64 per
gallon. I have enough bonus points this week to receive $1.80 off per gallon when
I fill up.

By the way, I got 28.2 miles per gallon yesterday coming from my brother house.
I drove on the interstate a bit less than halfway, then on a state parkways a bit
less than half way, and a state highway the remainder of the way.

Thursday night I drove the entire distance to my niece's house on a state highway
and averaged 25.2 mpg.

I knew someone who used to buy gas for their vehicles as Costco. It
was usually 4 or 5 cents per litre cheaper and they had a truck so she
figured she was saving a lot of money on gas. She never factored in the
fact that Costco was 25 miles away, a 50 mile round trip, so at least 3
gallons of gas to save a couple bucks on gas.

Costco is 10 miles away but that's still too far for me to get gas. I can save a little over 5 bucks by buying Costco gas but I only get gas there if I'm in the area. There's also about a 10 minute wait in line. One of these days, I'll just charge my car at home. That will be just peachy.

I make a 32 mile round trip to BJs but not often. There are a few
things so much cheaper it is worth the time. Butter, chicken, cleaning
products. There are some items I don't mind buying a 6 pack of. Wine
is about $3 a bottle cheaper for the same stuff.

I don't buy 3 gallon size condiments though. I watch the BOGO sales at
Publix for that.

Oh, got tires there last year too. Best price around.

There is a new one that is little closer to us now. I renewed my
membership a few months ago. It had lapsed for a couple years but I
would go with my friend and he would get stuff for me on his card. I am
pretty selective about what I buy there. They have a lot of great
cheese that sells for about half what grocery stores charge. My wife
likes me to get cases of juice boxes for her church's food bank.

I have a vacuum sealer so I can break up the clan sized meat trays and
freeze smaller portions. They used to have good deals on shrimp but that
is out now because of my wife's problem with them. Maybe I should get a
bag of those flash frozen scallops. I have to save enough to pay for
the extra 10 miles for gas.
