You could be like my wife's friend, Nora. She is a nice person, but a
procrastinating and hoarding flake. She had lost her job as a primary
school teacher and when her mother died she moved into the family home
in order to sort through her mother's papers. The mother was a hoarder
too. There were boxes and boxes and of old newspapers, clippings,
magazines, magazine articles, letters etc.

Her plan was to go through and keep the important stuff. I can't even
begin to think what might be important enough for the next generation to
keep. I can't even say for sure how long ago it was that her mother
died and she moved in, but it is at least 20 years. I don't think she
ever did go through those papers. What she has managed to do is to
accumulate a whole new bunch of papers and knicnacks. There were two
camper trailers in front of the garage that could not be accessed
because of the trailers. They were moved out after a tree fell on them
an crushed them. They brought in a trailer to hold the wood they
collected from that mess, and it is still sitting there... along with
the last two cars she has run into the ground.

There is now a collection of recycling bins, second hand lawn furniture,
stacks of wood and brush. You have to appreciate the irony of the fact
that she moved there to clean the place out but not only is there twice
as much shit in the house, the yard is now covered with crap.

By all means. Get a dumpster and higher a couple people to clear the
house out and haul it to the dump.

I do the same. I expect my two kids to fight over the dozen or so
pennies on my desk.

My wife was not a hoarder but did not easily part with stuff. When we
made the decision to move over four years ago it was my job to pack.
thankfully, she did not look as I made frequent trips to donate to
Salvation Army store. I've gotten rid others stuff after we moved and
will do another purge in a few weeks.

I think Asians like to do stuff like that. My wife's Korean step-mom used to hide money in her belongings. My wife would be finding cash in her stuff all the time. Too bad it wasn't $40,000. That would have been awesome!
My Chinese friend was convinced that his grandma hid a pile of money in the yard of her house in Las Vegas. He said he had dug a lot of holes in her yard when she died. I'll bet it would have been a shitload of dough - had he ever found it.
I like to put cash that people give me in my drawer. Unfortunately, the whole family knows this and treats my drawer like an ATM. That's the breaks.

I suppose that's just where we are different. I've been tied to a 9-5
type job before, I don't care to deal with that. Maybe some day, but
not where I'm at an what I'm doing right now... I'd rather work for
myself. Antiquing and resale is at least half a hobby, but is still
fulfilling for me. As it sits now, between any of my "jobs", the hours
are rather flexible, and I come and go as I please.

I didn't find the perspective of college attractive in the least bit.
Several people pushing me to go to college made it even less attractive.
Thus forth, I haven't regretted the decision (although I do have some
changes that I'd like to make). We'll see how I feel in a couple of
decades.

You don't need to go 4 years. There are
lots of very well-paying fullfilling
careers that only need a year or two
at trade school, like electrician,
plumber, HVAC, elevator maintenance,
wind technology, mortician, &c.

(That last one was just to trigger Bryan.)

Maybe. I'm doubtful that a woman who uses online banking would hide
cash in the house. It just doesn't seem consistent.

Indeed. My husband got a two-year degree in electro-optics and ended up
with a six-figure salary. Interesting work, good hours, nice
benefits. It's not every career that enables you to strap in to the
open door of a helicopter and test experimental infrared sensors.

Needless to say, he has no fear of heights.

For when the communists and the liberals take down the "system".

If I see any, I'll let you know. The bag has individual packets of Japanese style scallops to add to the soup. The scallops have the mantle still attached to them. The scallops have a soft part and a chewy part. They awfully good!

I could probably find it here. Here in NY, some of the stores (like Super H Mart) are a lot like in Hawaii, like Don Quijote (Daiei when I was there).. They have tons and tons of foreign food packages of noodles or dried veggies (written in Chinese, Japanese and Korean all over the package), but you can basically make out the seafood flavor in the picture.

Don Quijote owns the supermarket down the street so a lot of the food items are being sold there. That's pretty convenient. H Mart is pretty awesome. Super H Mart must be super awesome! If I lived in NYC, I'd go to H Mart often.
This morning I had some homemade Mexican chorizo with eggs. I should have mixed in an egg with the chorizo. Next time.

Actually, that's an optical illusion. It's funny that you would think tiny little creatures nibbled at my toast. I do have a cat licking on my bottle of Pepsi Nama. What a silly little cat!
