Russia says it had destroyed anti-aircraft missile systems supplied to
Ukraine by a European state, without specifying which country provided the
equipment.

Defence Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Monday
Russian Kalibr missiles destroyed on Sunday four S-300 launchers concealed
in a hangar on the outskirts of the central-eastern Ukrainian city of
Dnipro, hitting 25 Ukrainian soldiers in the attack.

The Russian defence ministry said its forces targeted missile defence
systems in three different locations in recent days. They also shot down
two Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft near the city of Izyum and destroyed two
ammunition depots, one of which was near the southern city of Mykolaiv, it
added.

The United States on Friday said it had sent a Patriot missile defence
system to Slovakia to replace the S-300 air defence systems sent to
Ukraine.

“Now is no time for complacency,” US President Joe Biden said when
announcing the Patriot transfer. “As the Russian military repositions for
the next phase of this war, I have directed my administration to continue
to spare no effort to identify and provide to the Ukrainian military the
advanced weapons capabilities it needs to defend its country.”

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the system, as well as a team of US
soldiers to operate it, will arrive in Slovakia in the coming days and
remain there for an undefined duration.

in all the media + you're perhaps missing the point of it being yet
another 'escalation' re those very SAME missiles being sent by slovakia:
last week!

the update to that being that russia obviously DID track them coming

up in smoke?? geez someone's gonna be pretty damn pissed about that!)

that's what's HAPPENING is that it's obviously getting a little worse/more

and... is just about to get a whole lot fucking WORSE!!!

or haven't you been following events as they've unfolded?? (damn it man

You're missing the point. In times like this, when a world power is
trying to destroy a neighbouring smaller power which is one of the
major granaries of the world, and that small power is fighting back
for its very survival, you cannot LIVE in one world and SUPPORT the
other.

You need to pick a side and stick with it. I happen to like our way
of life, our democracy, our civilised values, our running clean water,
our freedom. I've picked a side, for what it's worth.

You seem to want to enjoy the priveliges of freedom and living in one
of the world's best societies yet, it seems to me at least, you
support the aggressor here - the Russians.

You're not as overt about it as that nutcase Arthur, who stupidly
flaunts it and isn't trolling, he means it - and I hope I'm wrong
about you. But, in picking the side you do finally pick, you
shouldn't then criticise the side you pick. And you should have the
courage of your conviction.

Don't be an "Arthur". Be your own man. Take a position. Come down
off the fence.

### - let's get something straight ok? am NOT on the side of the russians!
never was or will be!

but then neither am i on the side of the west in this either!

rather: am STILL in the SAME intellectual + clearly OBJECTIVE position you
ALSO managed to reach/touch-upon just the other day but have apparently
since slipped back from/forgotten in your descent back into mere
unthinking flag-waving again...

e.g., at the time (after your brief bout with paranoia) you posted this
quite good + fairly objective analysis re russia WITHOUT it EVER even ONCE
implying that you're somehow supporting them OR their ideology!

https://www.newsweek.com/putins-bombers-could-devastate-ukraine-hes-holding-back-heres-why-1690494?piano_t=1

your comment about it being: "Exceptionally well thought out article. If
anyone here still has the
ability to focus for a reasonable time, well worth the investment in
cognition and time."

my suggestion is to thus STICK with such critically objective thinking,
actively apply it to BOTH sides in ANY & EVERY matter, and chuck all the
flag-waving bs that people are wont to hide behind for a lack of any
original ideas/observations of their own...

### - am critical of BOTH sides because afaic BOTH parties are equally
responsible for bringing the world, yet AGAIN, to the very brink of utter
fucking destruction!!! proof enough afaic that they're agendas are BOTH
completely insane! that there's OBVIOUSLY something wrong with BOTH of
their crappy ways! (they both have good bits too, bits i like, but the bad
clearly outweighs the good every time)

> Don't be an "Arthur". Be your own man. Take a position. Come down
> off the fence.

### - ffs leave lowrider out of it + quit picking on people just to ease
your own existential angst, he's an outsider too and surely hates the miss
ratchets of this world as much as anyone does... obviously he doesn't
agree/approve of everything his government has ever done, and i don't
blame him either, US foreign policy personally scares the crap outta me
too!

anyway, did the above a long-long time ago now: completely saw through all
their crap and decided i don't want anything more to do with ANY of 'em,
went solo... being born in what is ostensibly a societal madhouse doesn't
mean i automatically support all their shit, and would escape from it
altogether if there was anywhere to actually go that wasn't even
worse/more primitive...

unfortunately this is all there is... there's just nowhere else to go
(except onto death maybe at some point anyway for sure, so why rush it)
thus i remain here living as simply and as unobtrusively as i possibly
can, fully aware that ALL this is only very temporary indeed, far too
temporary to ever get too involved with anything (although have had a few
moments too along the way heh, good moments) and which, at my age, is
clearly also slowly drawing to its inevitable end...

inevitable... there's just no escaping the dreadful implications of such a
terrifying term huh, it rolls around inside one's head resounding/tolling
like a bell... until any moment now it's inevitably gonna be: come in
number 96 (or whatever) your time is finally up!

imho this is 'awake' as it's possible to be without becoming morbidly
obsessed about it, one laffs in the face of inevitable death, life thus
becoming a living tightrope of all the things one can spent precious
irreplaceable time obtaining versus the futility of even bothering with
any of it heh = clarity/lucidity/sobriety, conscious choice + that of
never falling back into confusion again...

I'm glad to see that. I was under a misapprehension then.

I'm also sorry to hear that. As Jim Morrison said (sarc button was
on)... "the West is the Best".

No I hate the Russians independently of Ukraine - they shot down MH17
with Aussie ma's, pa's and kids in it.

Remember?

Yep, good to see you read it. I can see Russia's perspective, but in
the Cold War, their Union was surrounded in Europe by no less than 700
NATO bases. There are miuch, much fewer nowdays, and as Brezhnev et
al managed to suppress the desire to fire test ICBM's, attack smaller
neighbours and so on, Putin has no fucking RIGHT to do what he has
done.

There are kids now who are double amputees who would have both their
sets of limbs if that cunt PUTLER hadn't invaded and attacked.

Sure. I do that in any case. Just because we don't agree doesn't
mean that I need to adhere to anything but logic and reason.

Well you have his address and phone number. Give him a call and
discuss the time of day with him. In my books, he's a disgruntled
senior citizen who has a beef with the American government because he
doesn't receive what he thinks the American government owes him by way
of pensions or whatever they call it over there.

On top of that, he's clearly fruity and sufferiing some degenerative
cognitive issue probably due to inactivity, lack of cognitive exercise
and age combined with a bad diet, lack of a partner and diagnosed
mental illness.

So I forgive him for being a traitor to his country and democracy and
all that.

Yep he shits me too. If he wants to support Putler and his minions
and wants to stab the West in the back, do it in Russia. I'm sure he
can fly to Poland or Estonia or Rumania and find his way to Russia
from there. Fuck off, in other words.

### - there's no 'buts' about it: rightly or wrongly that IS their
perspective. it's what's making them act in the manner they are!

the point i want to make here though (as a new conversation opener i mean)
is re the earlier above part re you feeling insulted, as no insult was
actually intended... that what you called paranoia wasn't, imho, paranoia
at all but was actually just an in-rush of unusual information that you
immediately/reflexly decided to have nada to do with... this resistance on
your part causing a mild panic attack was all, one that coloured/obscured
the experience with that most people refer to these days as being paranoia
(thing is: it's only paranoia if it isn't true?)

i.e., have personally lost count of the sheer number of times that's
happened to moi, and at first i used to get panic attacks too! thai-weed
particularly always does it heh, suddenly you're in another world and it's
all too much! and yet it's too good not to smoke it haha... can't get that
thai anymore anyway but the end result was my daring to use it knowing
what was gonna happen, and then braving/enduring the consequences
regardless lol... (am obviously a glutton for punishment heh)

couldn't handle remaining indoors on such occasions so would usually go
out for a long walk (several hours) in which i walked around town feeling
like the proverbial man from mars haha...

couldn't afford to attract attention to myself so had to fight to keep a
lid on it all and behave normally even if what i was feeling & seeing was
anything but normal, very 'bracing' experiences but also fascinating
because there were common experiences each time + it always wore-off, and
as such i eventually labeled such experiences as being 'excursions'

it took a few years but i kinda got used to handling it, that innate panic
resolved into curiosity instead because it always sends you back to the
exact same place in awareness??? the difficulty just seems to be in
accepting the abrupt change in perceptual mode and the in-rush of often
quite startling information that runs contrary to accepted reason...

anyhoo, several years of experimentation later (50 years in total no
matter what you wanna believe) i think i now know what weed (and other
substances) actually do & why heh... and also why people like it...

this being something i tried to pass onto you quite early on re smoking it
in a very particular way as opposed to haphazardly?

iow: through sheer persistence alone (heh) i eventually discovered how to
use weed to reach that exact same bracing place in awareness MINUS all the
emotional fuss & bother, more: i even eventually learned to turn it all
on/off without even resorting to weed at all!

i.e., it's entirely possible to learn to manipulate one's own awareness in
the same way weed does and to reach that exact same spot (in awareness)
albeit minus the colouring-effects of 'any' substance!

but that's for later if you're interested... that what these substances
actually do is to 'bend' our otherwise fixed perception to varying
degrees, thus allowing us glimpses of life from an entirely different
perspective, which, if it's all pretty and stuff is just fine, but which,
if it goes against what we wanna more easily accept (not so pretty) causes
panic attacks depending on one's resistance to that new info stream...

this can be easily tested in the previously suggested manner, wherein one
is rather amazingly delivered each & every time to that exact same
bracing-spot in awareness albeit minus any kinda paranoia/panic attacks...

the effect being just as though it's all just entirely worn-off completely
and one is again one's usual normal/ordinary thinking self, only
perceptually you're STILL in that same strange world!!! and as such you
then gets a chance to sanely have a good lingering look around without any
of the emotionally distracting pressures or feelings of paranoia
involved...

why bother? because one requires at least 'two' complete perspectives in
order to be able to contrast & compare, and there's wisdom in what comes
out of such a comparison ;)
