Jeez now, Ed, was your above jibe *really* necessary, especially on a lovely Sunday afternoon...???

What does the Bible say about "negative thoughts"...???

Galatians 5:23:

Gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law...

Psalm 19:14:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O
Lord, my rock and my redeemer...

Romans 12:21:

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good...

Colossians 3:2:
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth...

I'll read your bible nonsense when you start living like it. You who is
constantly bashing others and using vile language.

Isn't there something about "do unto others:?

It is my duty to only speak the *truth*, as God commands me to do, Ed:

Proverbs 12:22:
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight...

I'm no audiologist. As far as my Hearing Aid business that I used to have goes, it was pretty unique. The people that sell hearing aids are mostly audiologists or salespeople. I was neither. I was a repair technician. The audiologists justified their high prices because they were "MDs." The salespeople justified their high prices because they could get it. My thing was selling, servicing, and repairing aids at prices that were disruptive and to bring down the price of aids in Hawaii. That's not a sales pitch, it was an actual philosophy of mine. I had a good heart but my business brain was not so well developed.

Are they upset now that you can buy generic aids for $200 to $300? I'm
thinking of a set of those is in my future in a year or so.

I would think so. My guess is that the average price of aids have gone down since the advent of over the counter aids. OTOH, I predicted that one day, hearing aids would be sold at Walmart like any other consumer electronics with the sweet spot being in the 300 dollar range. That was around 20 years ago and it still hasn't happened yet.
The kids today are used to wearing earbuds to stream music and phone calls - it would be easy enough to digitally process and send ambient sounds through the earbuds. My guess is that things are going to change. OTOH, that's what I said 20 years ago.

Good question. IIRC the last time I bought tilapia (frozen, of course)
it was from South America. Aside from that, I've always found it to be
a bit mushy in texture.

It's best not to buy fish from A) fish farms and B) retard countries
(this includes South America and Asia)

This was from S. America (Columbia), and never frozen.
There is no question that tilapia is kind of "mushy."

I never cared much for catfish but my experience with talapia is that
is has all the negatives of catfish and none of the positives. I once
almost bought some frozen ready made fish tacos but I was wary and
checked the ingredients. Seeing talapia there helped me make my
decision not to try it. Some time later I tried a fish dish in a
Mexican restaurant. It seemed like the healthy choice, but there was the
issue of it being talapia. I was not impressed.

You "almost bought some frozen ready made fish tacos."
The fact that you "almost bought some frozen ready
made fish tacos" doesn't bolster your credibility.

Tilapia is cheap. I'd never buy it in a restaurant.
It's great for frying at home. At a Mexican joint,
there's steak. After surgery tomorrow, my

I don't think I've ever bought tilapia, but in my cellar freezer, I have
individual vacuum packed pieces of cod and salmon. I also have a bag of
frozen smelt, for those of us who want to talk about cheap fish, LOL.
Some day I'll fry some up in olive oil, and probably serve over pasta.

Tilapia is cheap, but worth trying. It's certainly less
"fishy" than most freshwater fish. Fry it in seasoned
corn meal (and decent oil), and squeeze on lemon
juice.

I love deep-fried smelt. I've also had them stir-fried with ginger,
garlic, and soy sauce.

One of my mother's friends went smelt dipping and gave her about
5-10 gallons of smelts. She gutted them with scissors one very
long evening after work. I can't remember whether I was tasked with
freezing them or whether she did that as well.

That sounds good. I should keep fresh frozen ginger root on hand. I
only have powdered.

I'm hoping that my frozen fish are dressed, but I suppose that I'll find

This comes from a woman who finds the
flavor of wild Pacific salmon to be similar

I accidentally bought some tilapia that
had not been "dressed." I ended up
donating the whole 10# box to a
homeless shelter operated by a local
minister.

Reverend Rice was the opposite of the
predatory megachurch types like Joel
Osteen. Anyone who thinks that the
Jesus of the Bible would welcome a
huckster into Heaven is beyond stupid.

I grate ginger, freeze it in teaspoon-size blobs, then store in a bag or
box. It's easy to take out as many teaspoonfuls as I need, and it thaws
very quickly.
The taste of grated ginger is quite different from that of powdered.

Powdered ginger is completely different from fresh (or frozen).

Any commercially frozen fish will be dressed. Barring, perhaps, some
fish that are too tiny to gut and are served with the intestinal tract
intact.
