Hi all! I'm longtime poster in other groups (all but one of is all but
dead or dead.) I was searching around for active groups and found this
one doing a bit of reading of seems like a fine group to join.

I cook mostly simpler quicker things for the family, I use ground turkey
a lot. My go-tos are spaghetti, chili, and kraft mac & chesse with
turkey & peas. I also make cheese omelets almost every day for me and
my son.

I have a number of things I cook on rarer occasion. My family loves my
waffles, but I'm really picky with them and think I need a much more
expensive waffle iron to do them right. Pancakes, Quiche, a couple
sugar free pies.

Welcome Justisaur (or is it Justin?)

Be forewarned, no matter what you cook, some here will bitch about your
food. Trust me, no one here is a Michelin chef, but they'd have you
believe they are.

Put on your asbestos underwear and buckle up!!!

There's only one rule: Lots of corn and lots of dead animal! Oh,
that's two rules.

Don't you love corn? That's like a Chinese who doesn't like rice.

That's something I can get behind, I love me my meat. My wife puts corn
in her own serving of chili after I make it, blasphemy!

Probably most of what I cook is probably around white trash level, maybe
slightly elevated.

I'm all scar tissue from my early days of Usenet, nothing anyone says
bothers me anymore. A useful skill for life in general.

Only if it's fried. I can't say I'm a fan of corn on the cob or
whole kernel canned corn either. Not much I can do about frozen
vegetable soup mix as it contains corn, too.

When my family has a Fourth of July cookout they always request that
I bring Mexican street corn dip. Meh, I don't see the appeal myself,
but they sure scarf it down.

I've never been a fan of corn in chili either, I just don't see the
point.

Here it's often in mixed frozen vegetables too. I believe corn's cheap
so the food industry loves to add it.* I don't mind.

Strange that you're the family expert on something that you don't like
yourself.

* Just like mixed nuts are often 75% peanuts.

Isn't that basically mayonnaise (jarred wino cum) mixed with chili powder
and cumin?

You're obviously a crappy cook. You'll fit in well here, since there
are plenty of other crappy cooks who post to this newsgroup.

Roasted corn on the cob is quite tasty. So are a variety of dead

You'll have to get used to Bruce. He's a Dutchman who lives in
Australia and is a rabid vegetarian, although he rarely mentions cooking
or eating anything at all, not even vegetables. Except the occasional
can of mackerel, which I suppose makes him a pseudo pescatarian.

Nah, he's probably healthy as a horse, sitting in the parking lot,
strumming his chinese guitar, and singing ballads of da mainland to all the
feral chickens on da rock.

For the one hundred and one thousandth time: I'm not a vegetarian. Try
to get that into your dense head. I mean, you're not a Trump zombie.
Engage your brain!

The last time I had mackerel is more than a year ago. Stop pretending
to be an expert on someone you're so scared of you don't read their
posts.

True. But there are some brands that state on the can their percentage
of peanuts. Thankfully though, I do like peanuts.

I'm not saying that you claim to be the expert, but that they see you
as the expert, apparently, because they always ask you to make it and
bring it.

I don't mind them either, but if it's 75% peanuts they should charge a
peanut price, plus a bit extra for the other 25%.
