One has to ask the question, "Why is Australia so far behind on vaccinations?" Is it because the government gets off on locking people down? Is there some technical/bureaucratic issue slowing delivery? Are Aussies just resistant to getting the shots?
I'm a Yank with three extended family members in the medical profession. They got either the Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna vax fairly early and had no problems which made my own decision easier. They seem to work, too; a group of eight of us recently vacationed in Mexico's Yucatan and tested negative for COVID two days before returning home.
"Just get it done" would be my advice if you're not allergic to the components.

Some places are only getting their 'ration' now, and many poorer

Pfizer have prioritised the US, there is only so much of it left for the
rest of the world. Australia was therefor dependent on Astra Zenica. AZ
is being manufactured locally but it took some time to get production
going. To cover the interim, it was expected that AZ would be shipped
from Europe. The Europeans nixed that needing it for themselves. There
was no panic since there was almost no Covid in the country, now a lot
of people are reluctant to have AZ due to a tiny risk of blood clots.
More Pfizer is expected later in the year, and it is expected that
everybody willing to have a shot will get it by years end. We are
sending AZ to Indonesia, and New Guinea where they need it most.

There seems to still be a lot of people dying from Covid in the US,
there has been one death (a 90 odd year old) in Australia this year.

I only brought up allergies because Pfizer mentions the possibility in their own paperwork. The place where I got jabbed was large and handled 1000's a day, and I didn't observe anyone having a reaction to it. But they still make you sit and wait for 15 minutes before leaving to allow for that.
