About a week ago, the English Press seemed to have England winning this Euro Championship, but then they realized teams like Norway and Germany and Spain and France are also playing in this Euro and the tone seems to have changed. England now is "Determined to stop formidable Norway".
I think England should be favourite for this cup as host and having a good win record, but if they dont beat Norway, or at least a convincing draw, then forget it. I wont begrudge Austria and Norway dong whatever it take to get both of them through at Englands expense, even if they pass the ball around for 90 minutes without crossing half after Austria takes a 1-0 lead in the first minute.

In the top match of group B, Germany lead Spain 2-0 at the half, I just started to watch when the Horst Hrubesch female equivalent headed in the second goal around the 36min. Germany will want to win in order to avoid England in the next round .

Denmark beat Finland 1-0 earlier to keep their hopes alive.

I dont know how it was in the 1st half, but Germany hanging on to the lead, so far, but Spain looks more likely to score.

Germans defended adequately enough, which in feminine terms means they were great defensively. They "hang on" for the 2-0FT. Some Neueresque keeping by the German keeper, she looks the best keeper I have seen yet. Spain moved the ball around well enough, just no finish. I think this result means Germany have won the group and thus avoid Engerlund?

It was a very dull grey kit, maybe meant to blend into the English backdrop of wet, grey skies, except that England is as hot and sunny as the Iceberg, I think we are going up to 34C here today and the match in Manchester will be around 30C with the earlier kick off.
Coming from the Sepp Blatter school of female kit design, with all that heat, I think they should wear something lighter, maybe a bikini like kit for games when it is this hot or maybe just wrapped in light silky scarves, you know cus of the heat, then during the water breaks, happening every 5 minutes, they could pour ice cod water over each others bodies and wipe down with the scarves. Not my ideas, just trying to incorporated what Sepp Blatter would have wanted.

Anyhow, Blatter wet dreams aside, Spain won with a late goal, I did not really watch much of the match, but Spain had 75% possession, made around 800 passes and won 1-0 with a 90th minute goal. THis means they will play England and if the English women are like the men, they will knock out the Lioneses, who will get nervous and screw themselves up as per English football design.

Should be straight forward today, Holland and Sweden to win, with the winner with the highest goal margin to avoid France, so I would think they will both want to run up the score. I think Portugal might have a chance to pull an upset, but not too likely.

Tomorrow Belgium v Italy to decide second place, unless they draw, then I think the dotirs of Iceland advances.

maybe meant to blend into the English backdrop of wet, grey skies, except that England is as hot and sunny as the Iceberg, I think we are going up to 34C here today and the match in Manchester will be around 30C with the earlier kick off.
