The reasons you did not join the military have been clear since your very first posting here - blustering fear and cowardice of the highest level. Everything you write shows a level of ignorance so far above base level that you make most comics seem dull. We had a draft then and your claim is that all people had to do was not graduate from high school to avoid the draft.. Can you suggest exactly why you write about things you know absolutely not the slightest thing about? Do you simply love lying and hence do it on a daily basis to support your addition?

Come on, Andrew. That was his attempt at a correction after he was
rightfully scolded for condemning the protesters on the left as strongly
as the murderer and other neo-Nazis on the right.

Trump's original statement: "We condemn in the strongest possible terms
this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on
many sides."

That's an obvious sop to the right wing, to avoid losing the neo-Nazi vote.

Uh, this has nothing to do with the next budget. It's the debt limit. Please try to keep up. It is how we fund current expenses set by the last budge, which (as always) includes debt service. What's your point? He's proposing a giant budget with tax increases to cover it -- kind of the opposite of what Trump did, which was giant budget with tax decrease and an increased deficit. We agree that giant budgets to cover unnecessary programs are not a good idea, but Biden claiming that his giant budget and multitude of programs will be covered by tax increases is a lot more realistic than claiming it will be covered by "trickle-down" or Mexico or other countries (e.g. tariffs, which of course are not paid by other countries). Trump just made sh** up, none of which happened, and we just sunk deeper into debt. And we sunk even deeper because we had to put Mid-West farmers on the dole.

Again, we're working off an old budget and don't have the cash or credit to cover it. The debt limit has nothing to do with the infrastructure bills swirling around Congress -- or possible future spending or the funding sources for that spending. We can argue all day about whether the proposed programs (whatever they may be -- the big bill is still cooking) are good or bad, but that is a whole other thing.

OK. I'll admit I did leave a little bit out. I saw what you posted in the article. But it sounds much much better for Trumpy and his ilk to support and approve and encourage the Neo Nazi crowd. He did tell the Proud Boys to stand by. That one is very true. And they were there in force at the January 6 attempted coup on the capital.

Different interpretation of what happened. I was not there and my Dad did not go into great detail. Just generalities. I always interpreted it as the Drill Sergeant going up and down the line screaming at each soldier nose to nose. In the freezing cold and wind. You are thinking the Drill Sergeant was commanding, organizing the whole squad at once and standing back 10-20 feet and shouting to get everyone's attention.

As for whether the soldiers had buildings close by or not or were forced to stand in the cold because there was no place to go. This was Anchorage Alaska. Mid 1950s. Alaskan Territory. I'm guessing the Army and Navy had their own ships and bases and docks? I'm pretty sure the Army and Navy have been in Anchorage since we bought it from Russia. And guessing this was not the first ship of troops sent up there. I'm guessing they had been sending a boatload of troops up there every month for decades and decades. And they should have known what the weather was like. So some genius at the Army should have figured out the best way to get men off the boat and into shelter and not stand in the cold. For nothing. Its not like standing in the cold and freezing makes you a better soldier. I know physical training and toughening them up makes them better physically. But I don't think freezing people for no point makes them better soldiers. Its due to incompetence or you intentionally want to torture people.

That shows how ineffective Democrats are - merely trying to keep costs
to zero. Why, every Republican tax-cut-for-high-earners is supposed to
_make_ money for the government! That's been true since the Reagan
administration!

Um... unless you look at actual results, that is.
