That's an ICE owner question. It's like asking, "how much gas does it take to fill the tank on an ICE?" That depends on how much you've used. 99% of the time, charging happens at home. Plug in every night and have a freshly topped off tank in the morning. The vehicle can charge from 0% to 100% overnight.

The reviewer says some odd things, like, "you cannot freewheel coast with the Silverado EV unless you hold your foot positioned perfectly on the go-pedal between accelerating and regen". This is a remark by someone who does not have an electric car and doesn't understand that you don't think in terms of "freewheel coasting" when you drive. You just drive. Control your speed with the speed controller pedal or whatever you wish to call it, other than the gas pedal. This reminds me of the old model T with a planetary gear set with multiple pedals to shift gears. Once regenerative braking is experienced, it's hard to go back and think, "yeah, two pedal is the way to go!"

The reviewer seems to have no understanding of electricity with statements like, "a maximum charging rate of 800 volts", and confusing serial and parallel arrangements of two batteries sections.

The reality is the vehicle's charging rate is limited by the current, so when halves of the battery are arranged serially, it can charge at 800 volts and therefor faster. It talks about using 350 kW chargers to add 100 miles in 10 minutes. That's about the same as a model 3 or Y.

Interesting vehicle. I think it shows GM is trying hard to come up to speed with BEVs.

Yes, how long is a piece of string? With the 80 amp, level 2 charger, which is not available yet, it will charge in 10 hours. A fact that people who don't own BEVs, ask first, in spite of the fact that it's really not very important. I would think you are a person who completely understands that, given the fact that you are happy waiting hours for a tow truck to show up to drag your car to the next charger.

$80000 / 200 = $400 / KWhr is a bit high. I can get new cells for around $150.
So, the right price is around $30K.

When I fly I am at the controls from takeoff to landing. An airline pilot is at the controls for a FEW MINUTES during the entire flight; the rest of the time it is being flown by an autopilot. Do you have ANY concept what a commercial pilot does? I don't think so.

You don't think at all. An airline pilot is at the controls for the entire flight - though they swap around on long flights. For most of the flight they are just paying attention to what the aircraft is doing, until something goes wrong - ever heard of clear air-turbulence - but they are trained to cope with a range of improbable but plausible disasters.

The pilots also pay attention to the environment in a way that current autopilots can't manage yet, and are ready to intervene immediately if it become necessary. Sometimes they don't react fast enough, or produce the wrong reaction, and the flight is lost. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I know about that because I read the newspapers. You don't even know that much.

You certainly made the mistake, but still haven't realised it. We all know that ICE trucks don't do regenerative braking. EV trucks could do something similar to compression braking - if more effective - by changing the current direction through the motor to actively slow the vehicle. Using the electric motor as a generator produces less deceleration (if the tyres don't start slipping, when what the motor does becomes largely irrelevant).

This is garbage coming from the mouth of someone who has NEVER flown an aircraft (real, not MS simulator). If a plane is being flown by the autopilot it IS NOT being flown by either pilot, which is EXACTLY what I said. What you are saying is that they are MONITORING the autopilot, which 99% of the time they really aren't - the autopilot alerts them if it can't handle conditions and disengages. In ANY CASE when I fly I AM at the controls the TOTAL TIME I am in the air, so every minute I log I am personally flying the plane - EVERY MINUTE! So the vast majority of the time that airline pilots log they ARE NOT at the controls. The airline pilots that log the most time AT THE CONTROLS are regional airline pilots who have short hops and spend more time at takeoffs and landings. A trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic pilot may only do ONE takeoff and landing PER MONTH!!!!!

Of course it is being flown by the pilot in control, in that same way that a captain controls a ship. Some aspects of control are handled by lower level systems, but the pilot is expected and required to take over if anything uexpected happens.
