The truck has unbelievable performance, but then again it's an $80k EV.

What does it weigh?

Why does it have a gear selector? I guess a truck needs gears.

How long will it take to recharge? To burn?

It's only available to fleets, for political buyers. Individuals
probably won't want it.

450 miles of range
10,000 lb towing capacity

Does this occur SIMULTANEOUSLY? I very seriously DOUBT IT! So what IS the towing range at 10,000 lb? Maybe 50 miles - on LEVEL GROUND!

The tell you in the article. Did you not read it?

> Why does it have a gear selector? I guess a truck needs gears.

Doesn't *your* car have a gear selector? If not, how do you select gears, like reverse?

https://gmauthority.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/2024-Chevrolet-Silverado-EV-RST-Interior-004-gear-selector.jpg

> How long will it take to recharge?

That's an ICE owner question. It's like asking, "how much gas does it take to fill the tank on an ICE?" That depends on how much you've used. 99% of the time, charging happens at home. Plug in every night and have a freshly topped off tank in the morning. The vehicle can charge from 0% to 100% overnight.

> To burn?

This shows the ignorance and prejudice of Larkin.

> It's only available to fleets, for political buyers. Individuals
> probably won't want it.

There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

"Consumer deliveries of the Silverado should begin by the end of the year."

The reviewer says some odd things, like, "you cannot freewheel coast with the Silverado EV unless you hold your foot positioned perfectly on the go-pedal between accelerating and regen". This is a remark by someone who does not have an electric car and doesn't understand that you don't think in terms of "freewheel coasting" when you drive. You just drive. Control your speed with the speed controller pedal or whatever you wish to call it, other than the gas pedal. This reminds me of the old model T with a planetary gear set with multiple pedals to shift gears. Once regenerative braking is experienced, it's hard to go back and think, "yeah, two pedal is the way to go!"

The reviewer seems to have no understanding of electricity with statements like, "a maximum charging rate of 800 volts", and confusing serial and parallel arrangements of two batteries sections.

The reality is the vehicle's charging rate is limited by the current, so when halves of the battery are arranged serially, it can charge at 800 volts and therefor faster. It talks about using 350 kW chargers to add 100 miles in 10 minutes. That's about the same as a model 3 or Y.

Interesting vehicle. I think it shows GM is trying hard to come up to speed with BEVs.

Yes, how long is a piece of string? With the 80 amp, level 2 charger, which is not available yet, it will charge in 10 hours. A fact that people who don't own BEVs, ask first, in spite of the fact that it's really not very important. I would think you are a person who completely understands that, given the fact that you are happy waiting hours for a tow truck to show up to drag your car to the next charger.

LOL!!! You would buy it to cannibalize the batteries for your Leaf! LOL

It has to lug its own batteries up a hill too.

$80000 / 200 = $400 / KWhr is a bit high. I can get new cells for around $150.
So, the right price is around $30K.

I would guess around 200 miles. Someone towed a Tesla with a Rivian for a test, with half range.

Bozo, AGAIN, makes claims WITHOUT evidence. I can definitely assure everyone that these two specifications DON'T occur simultaneously. Anyone with a eight grade education could figure this out.

Right. This truck is roughly 2,000 lbs heavier than my F-250 Super Duty pickup. This directly subtracts from its towing capacity and the GCVW rating.

Sorry, Bozo, but regenerative braking WILL NOT make up for the additional power required to pull a trailer. Furthermore, regen braking is ALREADY factored into the very optimistic EPA mileage estimate. That you don't know this does NOT come as a surprise, considering all of the STUPID things you have said, like NUKING AND FIREBOMBING YOUR OWN COUNTRY!

On top of these problems, the WT is a stripped down model with zero frills. The suspension is horrible and the seats don't adjust vertically. If you want a loaded version you will have to spend more like $110k for the RST. Spend $80k on a Ford Diesel Super Duty, like what I have, and you get a fully loaded model that can tow 10,000 lbs 350 miles. I know because I have done it. Bozo has NO CLUE about pickups because he lives in an apartment and bikes to his destinations.

You just blatantly demonstrated you IGNORANCE of trucks, Bozo. ALL trucks have braking systems that handle, not only hills, but mountain grades as well. ICE engines are capable of compressive braking, which you, apparently, no nothing about.

No, what I pointed out was that YOU do not know what you are TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!

Sorry, Bozo, but I haven't "crashed" a plane. Commercial pilots do get more training for IFR flying and dealing with the complex systems on large jets, but the amount of stick time is FAR LESS than I get. When I fly I am at the controls from takeoff to landing. An airline pilot is at the controls for a FEW MINUTES during the entire flight; the rest of the time it is being flown by an autopilot. Do you have ANY concept what a commercial pilot does? I don't think so.

Oh, YES I DO! I have driven trucks for DECADES, you ignorant FOOL! I doubt that you have driven one around the block.

You wouldn't have survived to post here if you had. Even the most moronic windbag can get lucky.

Do you have ANY concept what a commercial pilot does? I don't think so.

You don't think at all. An airline pilot is at the controls for the entire flight - though they swap around on long flights. For most of the flight they are just paying attention to what the aircraft is doing, until something goes wrong - ever heard of clear air-turbulence - but they are trained to cope with a range of improbable but plausible disasters.
> > > LOL! You just ADMITTED you don't know SHIT about trucks.

Actually, you did by confusing compression braking with regenerative braking.

Doing it clearly didn't force you to think about what you were doing. Thinking isn't your strong point. That does seem to be asserting confident ignorance.

LOL! You are TOTALLY CLUELESS, Bozo!!!! NO, airline pilots ARE NOT hand-flying the plane except for a few minutes at takeoff and landing. The ENTIRE REST OF THE TIME the aircraft is being flown by the autopilot - the pilots just change the heading and altitude. But you don't know that because you don't know SHIT about flying and REFUSE to educate yourself.

I made NO SUCH mistake - ICE trucks HAVE NO regenerative braking and EV trucks HAVE NO compression braking.

HOW would you know? I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles with trucks - your experience might be driving one around the block, but I doubt it because you DON'T THINK AT ALL!D

I didn't say that they were.

The pilots also pay attention to the environment in a way that current autopilots can't manage yet, and are ready to intervene immediately if it become necessary. Sometimes they don't react fast enough, or produce the wrong reaction, and the flight is lost. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I know about that because I read the newspapers. You don't even know that much.

You certainly made the mistake, but still haven't realised it. We all know that ICE trucks don't do regenerative braking. EV trucks could do something similar to compression braking - if more effective - by changing the current direction through the motor to actively slow the vehicle. Using the electric motor as a generator produces less deceleration (if the tyres don't start slipping, when what the motor does becomes largely irrelevant).

> > > > Neither do you, otherwise you wouldn't have confused compression braking with regenerative braking. I may not know as much as you, but more of what I do know seems to be true.

So what. You've may have loads of experience (though you do lie at lot) but you clearly no comprehension of what you were experiencing.

That is what you like to think. It doesn't happen to be true, like most of your "confident assertions" but that doesn't stop you mouthing off.

The FUCK YOU DID!
"You don't think at all. An airline pilot is at the controls for the entire flight"
You MUST be as senile as Lyin' Biden and can't remember what you said a few hours ago.

You don't even know that much.

This is garbage coming from the mouth of someone who has NEVER flown an aircraft (real, not MS simulator). If a plane is being flown by the autopilot it IS NOT being flown by either pilot, which is EXACTLY what I said. What you are saying is that they are MONITORING the autopilot, which 99% of the time they really aren't - the autopilot alerts them if it can't handle conditions and disengages. In ANY CASE when I fly I AM at the controls the TOTAL TIME I am in the air, so every minute I log I am personally flying the plane - EVERY MINUTE! So the vast majority of the time that airline pilots log they ARE NOT at the controls. The airline pilots that log the most time AT THE CONTROLS are regional airline pilots who have short hops and spend more time at takeoffs and landings. A trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic pilot may only do ONE takeoff and landing PER MONTH!!!!!

Hey Bozo, again you SAID that I "don't know the difference between compressive and regenerative braking." Fuck, I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles in trucks and SURE AS HELL know the difference. Again, you have NEVER DRIVEN A TRUCK, so have NO IDEA how compressive braking functions. You are just PLAIN IGNORANT of these issues, but you are TOO STUPID to realize it (not REALISE) and persist in faking knowledge in a subject in which you NO NOTHING.

No Bozo, that is what I KNOW! What do you want as proof, the VIN of my truck???

They are, but that doesn't mean that they are hand-flying the plane.

> You MUST be as senile as Lyin' Biden and can't remember what you said a few hours ago.

The senility is all yours. Not only can I remember what I said but I can understand what it meant, which you clearly can't.

What you are saying is that they are MONITORING the autopilot, which 99% of the time they really aren't - the autopilot alerts them if it can't handle conditions and disengages.

Of course it is being flown by the pilot in control, in that same way that a captain controls a ship. Some aspects of control are handled by lower level systems, but the pilot is expected and required to take over if anything uexpected happens.

>In ANY CASE when I fly I AM at the controls the TOTAL TIME I am in the air, so every minute I log I am personally flying the plane - EVERY MINUTE!

So what.

> So the vast majority of the time that airline pilots log they ARE NOT at the controls.

They are present at the controls, though they may not be manipulating them. "At the controls" isn't the same as "working the controls". It's not a fine distinction.

> The airline pilots that log the most time AT THE CONTROLS are regional airline pilots who have short hops and spend more time at takeoffs and landings. A trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic pilot may only do ONE takeoff and landing PER MONTH!!!!!

So what?

It works exactly the same way it does in an ICE car.

What would that prove? You do seem to be convinced that you do know what you are talking about, while producing a stream of fatuous nonsense

> > Of course it is being flown by the pilot in control, in that same way that a captain controls a ship. Some aspects of control are handled by lower level systems, but the pilot is expected and required to take over if anything uexpected happens.

EV trucks could do something similar to compression braking - if more effective - by changing the current direction through the motor to actively slow the vehicle. Using the electric motor as a generator produces less deceleration (if the tyres don't start slipping, when what the motor does becomes largely irrelevant).
> > >

> > > >

> LOL! It would prove that I OWN the truck, you IDIOT!! Where I have driven trucks for DECADES you haven't driven on AROUND THE BLOCK!!! This is why you have NOTHING to add to this conversation.
