I realize that you cannot stop yourself from arguing about anything but all you had to do was do a search and you could have discovered for yourself that High-Z materials:

https://aapm.org/meetings/99AM/pdf/2264-15475.pdf

Well, at least while waiting you were sure you finally had me and creamed all over yourself. Jeff, you must have the highest opinion of yourself of any third grade technician.

Ok, you win this round. I don't do nuclear medicine and am not
familiar with the lingo. You're also correct that I didn't bother
searching for High-Z. In electronics, High-Z means high impedance:
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Z>
which I assumed did not require a search for duplicate definitions.

>Well, at least while waiting you were sure you finally had me and creamed all over yourself. Jeff, you must have the highest opinion of yourself of any third grade technician.

Nope. You just won one minor skirmish. You still have a history of
unanswered questions and dubious claims that could use some
explanations. You rarely supply sources and substantiations. I'm
really impressed that you actually were able to provide a source which
uses High-Z.

I thought I mage it clear that I can't remember how it was switched from parallel charging mode to series discharge mode but that the series string was discharged via a spark gap either into a high Z to obtain gamma rays or a tinfoil plate to shower the target with live electrons. Exactly what is it about you that you have almost a sexual need to somehow find gaps in my memory from 50 years ago down to the finest detail? Do you plan on beating off to orgasm should you find an error like Flunkmeister did? Is that what you're looking for?

"an" error?
- cables can be tested with PWM
- twisted pair are limited to audio
- you can't use TDR on fiber optics
- "light lines" is a common term for fiber optics

You are an error generator, tommy, not to mention moving the goal posts with "high Z". More on that below.

More sexual projection tommy , you're the only one bringing it up, you should really seek counseling to understand why you see everything in terms of male masturbation - it's really creepy for an old man to be so obsessed with it.

Not so fast Jeff. The context of the discussion was electronics and particle accelerators, and tommy specifically wrote "via a spark gap either into a high Z " which contextually means high impedance. Neither of those alludes to his goal-post-shift to nuclear medicine. Then there's the fact that his own link lists the phrase as "High Z Materials". If Tommy was sincere, he should have written "into a High-Z material as used in nuclear medicine". This error, as well as these:
- cables can be tested with PWM
- twisted pair are limited to audio
- you can't use TDR on fiber optics
- "light lines" is a common term for fiber optic

Which he's refused to acknowledge are mere glimpses of why he was never able to keep a job for more than a year. I suspect being a raging asshole had as much to do with it as his ignorance.

No, you lost all of my somewhat limited respect and I will no longer respond to you, John nor Flunkmeister and there isn't one thing that any of you have added to this group.

By Gorry Tommy I think you are right!

I mean, who in the world would want to reply to a bunch of people that
spend their time pointing out to the world that you were wrong yet
again.

Which, it would seem, leaves you and Andy in what nasty little boys
call a "circle jerk" and more adult individuals refer to as "mutual
masturbation", i.e. you stroke me and I'll stroke you.

Cheers,

John B.

Sounds like a mutually acceptable solution - provided tommy (and andre) can actually keep the bargain. I hope to be wrong on this, but it will only be a matter of time before tommy launches a 'first strike" personal attack against you, Frank, or anyone else who he deems a "bully". We already saw that in the "time of the year" thread, where he went off on Frank - who wasn't even commenting on that thread, and then started yet another qanon covid thread.

But, let's cut him some slack since he made the promise above after he posted those two messages. I wonder what odds Vegas would lay on it?

>
> Which, it would seem, leaves you and Andy

I'm sure you meant to write "andre" instead of "Andy". Though Andy seems to hold many of the same opinions as tommy, Andy is a gentleman about it, researching his facts before he posts, and never regressing into personal attacks. We can have a rational discussion with Andy and agree to disagree.

And of course andre will chime right in with tommy, egging him on.

There are 5400+ Thai restaurants in the USA. That's 100 per state.
There should be something Thai in your area. Yelp declares that there
are 10 or more Thai restaurants in Santa Cruz county:
<https://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=thai&find_loc=Santa+Cruz%2C+CA>
I've tried about 3 of these. All were quite good.

I blundered into this video last night:

"Why Almost Every Town In America Has a Thai Restaurant"
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W09QCLmnCUU> (5:30)

The video suggests that the Thai government has had a plan or
conspiracy to export and subsidize Thai food and restaurants to the
USA. It also hints that nobody in Thailand eats noodles, which makes
up the bulk of the exported version of Thai food. I'm beginning to
consider the word "authentic" to indicate quite the opposite. Can you
give me a clue what is happening and what do you really eat in
Thailand? This stuff perhaps?

There is a tremendous amount of "Bull Shit" in that video. True, Siam
changed it's name to Thailand (land of the free) in 1939 under the
dictator Major General Phibun, who also decreed the so called 12
Mandates - see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_cultural_mandates#Mandate_1
but publishing "decrees" and what the people actually do are two very
different things.

As for Noodles.Well, my wife's younger brother makes rice noodles and
uses literally tons of rice every day and is again, literally, a
millionaire, from wholesaling noodles.

As for authentic Thai dishes... well, that is a very complex subject
although generally Thai food has a lot of chili peppers in it, but if
you go into a Thai restaurant and order you can, and many Thai's do,
order "not pet", pet" being the Thai word to indicate "hot" or spicy.
as in chili peppers.

In addition there is no fixed recipe and every cook fixes it his/her
way. And... if you were to order, oh say, Pad Thai in a restaurant in
northern Thailand, Bangkok and somewhere down south you'd begin to
wonder what Pad Thai actually was it would be so different.

Every time I hear a Farang talk about Thai food I'm reminded of the
time visited a friend, who like me has lived a long time in Thailand,
at his son's place in Western Australia. The "Kids" took us out to
supper at a "Thai" restaurant and to be honest the only way we knew
what we were eating was to read the menu. It turned out that the wife
of the restaurant owner was Thai and I asked her, in Thai, about
"What's This?" and she told me that they had to make it special for
"these foreigners" :-)
