What do Whops know about MTB racing? Maybe they have it made for road or even gravel considering P-R but MTB's are an American invention.

Whop (or more precisely, WOP) is a derogatory term for Italians. Hey Tom,
va' a fa' 'n culo.

PS: I guess that means Shimano can’t make MTB parts either.

It means tommy is showing his bigotry again. "whop" is a misspelling of a derogatory term used to describe an Italian. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/wop He probably though he was being funny, but we only need to look at his descriptions of any Hispanic he sees as "illegals" (when it's likely their families have been in the US longer than his).

As for your poor Italian - isn't everyone?

Shimano's X series ARE mountain bikes. I have never used a group on a mountain bike that wasn't clearly superior to the competition. No suspension, hard tail or full suspension. The ONLY components to use are Shimano

Tommy only insults people because it's the _AMERICAN_ thing to do!

Is that satire? I don't get it.

Italy (like England and Germany and for all I know the rest
of Europe as well) has an active high-end MTB market for
bicycles and components, various race series and a lot of
weekend warriors. Just like the Carolinas, Missouri,
California and every other part of USA.

Hell, even Nederlanders ride MTB and they don't even have
mountains:

Maybe you ‘Americans’ should stop doing that.

Actually, it has been my experience that all groups of people, whether
nationalities or tribes have terms that they use for outsiders.
The U.S., I suspect, have more then most other societies largely
because the population is essentially totally made up of "foreigners"
and thus nearly everyone is an outsider to some other group.

Disregarding all of the ethnic, nationality comments, I do find it odd that a $650 CNC rear derailleur cannot be shifted by Dura Ace 9000 series STI levers. Or Shimano 105. Maybe not Ultegra either. I looked up the shifter models it was not compatible with and came up with a few time trial bar ones and others that were not even real parts. Maybe some misspelling or lack of knowledge by the company selling the part.

Which leads me to wonder, who exactly are the customers this company is targeting if their $650 rear derailleur is not compatible with Shimano Dura Ace STI shifters? If you are not rich enough to ride Dura Ace levers, how can you afford a $650 rear derailleur?

Why?
I've lived in a number of foreign countries and societies and every
one has nicknames for "others". Every one,. And Americans are no worse
then any other. The Chinese, for example sometimes refer to "white
people" as Gweilo, which translates to "Ghost person" hardly a
complementary term.

In fact Americans even have names for others of the same race or color
that simply live in a different section of the country - "Redneck"
comes to mind here (:-)

I didn't read the entire site in detail but wasn't it advertised as
"Limited Edition (only 81 pieces)"

Wouldn't anyone pay $650 if they knew that only 80 other people would
have one like their's?

That appears to be the habit and it is unlikely to change - you need only read the comments of flunky and Frank to see an almost entire lack of respect for anyone other than themselves.

Well, for once I have to agree with John. The fact is that this isn't an American practice but international whether it be Africa, Australia or Sicily.. I've even heard native Swiss making snide remarks about the French. The only way to handle it is to take it for what it is worth - nothing but a joke at the expense of someone else. And WHAT IS COMEDY - aside from Will Smith who actually thought Kevin Hart funny until his wife felt it was at her expense. Are we to be a world of people that laugh as easily at our selves as at others? Or to be smote with injuries for every smallest slight?
