Think about the soviet Union as one gigantic GULAG, which islands of
liberties for the wards.

With 'German PoWs' I meant, of course, 'German in Soviet(US, British
....) PoW camps'.

The number was extremely huge (several millions).

The Soviets kept their PoWs up to ten years in camps in Siberia, from
were about ten percent returned alive.

British extorted everything of value from their PoWs by such means:

'German Pows' means 'German soldiers, captured by allied forces and
brought to camps abroad'.

Sure, but we were discussing the allies.

Certainly. The Soviets weren't exactly kind to the forces which invaded
them and killed so many. I guess things were relative, how well were
captured German scientists treated compared to a simple soldier?

It seems my thought process got reversed partway through this. Indeed
this is about German POWs held by the Soviets and Allies. I probably
walked away from the reply and returned.

The worst treatment received actually German Communists, which fled to
the Soviet Union.

Most of them were imprisoned in a 'hotel' in Moskow, interrogated and in
many cases executed.

Scientists were mainly captured by the US-troops and brought into the
USA. The Soviets got only a few.

What happened to these is more or less unknown.
