RIIIIGHT..... UCLA is a liberal campus, full of liberals. The tattoos don't indicate "Republican." Their hairstyles and clothes don't either. One of them was from NYC, not really a Republican stronghold. Their families and teachers (liberals) have had plenty of chances to educate them about geography, but obviously did not.

I didn't suggest they were Republicans.

If you wish to make THAT claim then you should not have mentioned Republicans at all.

Liberals run the schools, including the public schools of NYC and colleges/universities such as UCLA. New York and California have voted consistently Democrat (liberals) since the early '90s, coinciding with the years in which the people interviewed in the video were born, raised and educated.

The bottom line is, if you want to blame Republicans for what was heard on that video, you had better damn well present your evidence and do it now.

Oh, and BTW, did YOU not claim to be a "registered Republican?"

Knowing the capital of the USA or difference between the Atlantic or Pacific oceans is not a university subject.
It's thought in the 4th grade , not sure how they got into UCLA?
Unless the UCLA test only required to know the name of the Kardashians?
LOL!

If they had given correct answers, they would have been cut from the video. Maybe the fifty or sixty others who were interviewed gave correct answers..

Or maybe they were all wrong but these women were the most vivacious.

Anyone who can get into college should know which ocean is which.

Once I met a young girl, in her early 20s, she was going on a trip to Europe, from England to Italy on a bus.
She said, the trip starts in England, than France, than through Switzerland, here she got stuck, she was asking - Where is Switzerland?
My friend and I had our eyebrows, move to the top of our head!
I can tell you, American public school education is very poor, compare to Europe!
I'm not saying, in Europe too we had some naturally difficult minded students, but this girl looked very well groomed, maybe come from a middle, upper middle class family?

You do not have any proof of your assertion about American public school education, just an unreliable anecdote. And YOU might have misheard, misunderstood or misinterpreted what she said. Given your poor writing here, that would be highly likely.

Switzerland is a small country, with a lingering controversy about its role in WW2 and its behavior thereafter.

It's roughly the size of Maryland, a state with which most Europeans are probably not very familiar.

It has mountains, lakes, etc, but then so do places all over the world, including the US.

The comment was in regards to what is causing the intellectual failure
of Americans. Republican and right-wing manipulation.

Once upon a time I was a Republican. Today I am a progressive
unaffiliated voter.

The problem shown here has nothing to do with UCLA.

Yes, but I surely would know where Maryland is if I would travel there for vacation?
You are mixing apples with oranges, when talk about Switzerland"s passed!
What WW2 has to do about vacationing in Switzerland?
Would any one stop coming to the US because it exterminated the native Indians or had war with Vietnam for 10 years, killing 2 million people there?
No!

Correct!
Gross lack of knowledge of simple thing, like knowing your own country's capital is going way back to earlier education, to 5th grade and possibly, parents with very low education.
Simply watching news or other media every day , one could learn about it?
Like if the Kardashians appeared in Washington DC, can learn something about the city!
Lol!😂

Incorrect! Republicans do not go around keeping kids from learning stuff that should be common knowledge, even if a school doesn't get around to teaching it.

and "Kim Goes to Atlantic City, Located on the...(drum roll)...ATLANTIC OCEAN."

Republicans are actively destroying the public education system in the
U.S. Doing so is the only mechanism they have to preserve their
existence, given that the country is already strongly liberal across
its population. It is only by manipulating uninformed, poorly educated
voters that they can survive.

I have an even more fundamental question.

Is it only girls who can get into UCLA without knowing on which side of
the USA that the Pacific Ocean is located? Did - or would - all the guys
of whom similar questions were asked get them right?

Since women are just as intelligent as men, some more sophisticated
explanation would be required to account for selective ignorance being
more common in females.
