Or not. What were those fools at the Jail thinking of letting Trump pose like
that for his mugshot? They should have kept him there until he:

1) Held his head up to face the camera squarely
2) Faced the camera with a neutral expression rather than a Mr Toughguy one

He's obviously either a natural or had some training in how to face a camera -
and the klods at the jail fell right into it. But they were in charge and
should have stopped him and held him there until he stopped posing.

He looks like a rebellious child.

I have already had email offering to sell me a Trump mug (taking the piss
out of him)

The problem is that there is so much distrust of the apparatus of State
in the US that even Trump is seen as preferable to the Democrats, and
huge swathes of people either don't care what he did, if it means
sticking one to the elites, or think the charges are basically - er -
trumped up!

You have to realise they are probably supporters. I think America loves
disruptive politicians who buck the trend of smarmy ex lawyers you often
get. I bet the Republicans are levering away trying to find somebody else
who does not call a spaced a human powered digging implement. The trouble
with Trump in power is that he can be dangerous to the country as he is so
divisive. There is no grey area with him, and no attempt to even act like a
President. As has been said, he is either a complete idiot, or very clever.
He seems to know how to live and despite appearing to lose money.
A millionaire redneck.

Don't you think that most of those involved are Trump supporters?

I just had a conversation with a friend from the USA the other day - he said that it was just so embarrassing to come from a country where nearly half of his fellow citizens supported someone like that.

Really? People said that Trump being elected caused great division in
the country. He didn't: the election, and all the fraud surrounding it,
simply showed that a great division already existed. Clinton's 'basket
of deplorables' speech came before the election, not after it.

And you can say exactly the same about Biden.

At least with Biden, there's no question about that, though he probably
was quite clever in his younger days.

I think it's more the case than half his fellow citizens don't feel
that they can survive another Democrat government.

That seems to be more and more common behaviour in many things. The
Scottish referendum and the Brexit referendum produced results that were
very close to a tie and caused heated arguments about which side were less
intelligent/more gullible than the other which continue to this day.

UK general elections seem to produce a result with close to 40% support
for each of Labour/Conservative and the result decided by the other 20%.

Not embarrassing at all. Any more than a majority voted for Nigel

Each to his own, but I'm surprised that you think that pose is
successful. I thought he looked like a sulky 14-year-old who's
practising his "tough guy" look in front of his bedrooom mirror, and
failing to get it right.

I suppose it may please his followers, but at this stage they've taken
enough KoolAid to think he can do no wrong.

Must be why, according to the Beeb, Dumbo's mugshot printed onto, er, mugs,
tea towels, etc, has already brought him in $7.1Million. The pose is
successful for Trump's target audience and they are lapping it up. I think you
two need to learn that other people might have perspectives that differ from
your own, and look at the situation from those perspectives. Not that you have
to agree with them of course.
