Yes, it was. Very. Yet another example of how keen Felix is to
demonstrate how utterly clueless he actually is, and being put back in
his box which will hopefully give the idiot a moment of pause and
motivate him to educate himself.

I don't know how old Felix is, but I believe he is somewhere around the
mid 70's or so. I may be wrong and if I am I'm happy to stand corrected,
but that's what I seem to recall being mentioned once. If that's the
case then genuinely am in amazement how someone who is so utterly
ignorant of the world in general as he *clearly* is could have got that
far without killing himself or everyone around him.

I mean, for fuck's sake this is a bloke who cannot tell that a computer
generated animation of a truck used in a video game isn't real....

They still get me to work for them. Funny that. So much for being put
out to pasture. As for being on the lowest rung of the ladder.... I was
flown around the state training others. Hmm must have needed to be put
out to pasture... Your full of shit as usual.

My super covers all my needs however sometimes I like to buy myself toys
to play with. Expensive ones. I still get jobs from the company I worked
for when I want to earn some pocket money as I said. It pays for camera
lenses for my camera which at a few thousand each would eat into my
super a bit.

I wasn't talking about the obvious typo. You're an idiot if you think
that was my issue. Please tell me how he uses his new nuc for "Lan

yes he's a liar, a fool, and a coward. says he has no interest, but
looks for every opportunity to comment, but can't comment directly
because he's hiding behind his castle wall. he has no integrity and no
authority.

here we have a good example of a  little trick you employ when
commenting. you make a statement that is nothing more than opinion, but
is proffered as fact, followed by another statement in support that
appears to be factually based, but in reality is nothing more than more
opinion, so that together both remarks appear as as if you're stating a
fact. it's never worked for you, and it never will.

What is interesting is your sudden about-face when it came time for you
to prove *your* claims. Prior to that you were *always* banging on about
people needing to prove their claims, for example.

Burnt and evaporated are completely different things. You're backing up
faster than an Italian tank, and trying to blame others for your fuckup.
You were given adequate chance to change your story but doubled down on
it - so take it like a man and admit that you didn't know what you were
talking about.

by saying 'burnt' I meant it changes to a gaseous state by the intense
heat. that's exctly what I meant. being pedantic about my choice of
words won't cut it for you. shirly you can't really believe I thought
water is a flammable liquid? or are you really that stupid? but maybe
you are because you thought it was necessary to explain the three states
that water can exist in above.

Why would a custom built unit be any more reliable than any other?

Any-single-component group in the PC can be sold for in excess

Since the world has moved on, the vast majority of users want a laptop
these days. The age of the machine would mean that the components would
have little value these days, the power supply may be worth something
but the rest would be e-waste.

Probably a lot less than you think. Some gamer or bitcoin miner may be

That's because you're out of touch, keep the thing if it works for you
just don't believe that you have something of value, just think, there
was a reason that it was given away rather than sold.

It's insightful that none of your mob didn't pick up on felix's claim

have fun explaining then why old computer parts sell easily on ebay,
sometimes for more than their newer equivalents, video cards being a
prime example.

Nothing pedantic about it, if something can be burnt, then it ks
inflammable. The words burnt and evaporated have completely different
meanings, and burnt does not mean converted to a gaseous state.

Collins English Dictionary – Complete and Unabridged, 12th Edition 2014

burn (bɜrn)

v. burned burnt, burn•ing, v.i.
1. to consume fuel and give off heat, gases, and usu. light; be on fire.
2.
a. to undergo combustion; oxidize.
b. to undergo fission or fusion.

I explained it at length because you didn't seem to have a clue about
it, and needed some education. You may notice that something burnt has
given off heat whereas something evaporated has absorbed heat, that is a
major distinction. Maybe science just isn't your thing.

Marketing philosophy is to price something to the maximum that you can
reasonably get, if these is little or no demand then you are forced to
unload it at a bargain price.

it doesn't have to be recent or powerful. old video cards often sell for
$50 or $60, which low spec new cards can be bought for. a lot of ppl
want to keep their computers going if they can, rather than having to
replace them. it may come as huge shock to you to know that some ppl
haven't worked for NASA, or traveled to Japan, and don't have a lot of
money to throw around.

Oh dear, did I use the wrong word again?? I should have said marketing
strategy. silly me. It's a common practice for businesses to sell items
they want to be rid of at a bargain price, or below cost, just to clear
out stock. sometimes many items are sold this way at the same time. when
that happens it's usually called a 'Sale'. you may have heard of the term.

Because you can pick and choose the best quality components for the task

I have one of those. The laptop serves a *totally different purpose*. It
cannot possibly satisfy the needs that this i7 now fulfils.

Didn't you read what I wrote? The computer is back in use having been
*repurposed*. The only thing in it that *might* end up as waste is the
case as I have no need for such a large unit. The gubbins are all now
ensconced in this; https://www.antec.com/product/case/p10-flux
It replaced 2 other computers that were of ~2005 vintage, one of which I
gave away to a friend.

See above, it doesn't matter to me one whit. *I* have a use for it. I
was merely making a point concerning the value of individual bits and bobs.

As a *unit*. I mentioned saleability of individual bits. As with cars,
old computers are often worth more sold as parts than as a complete unit.

It does work for me, that's why I bought it.

It *is* of value - to me.

Yes, he had no further use for it and, rather than binning it, sold it
cheap. Peter said as much in his response to another poster. I
understand that philosophy, it's why I gave away my older tower unit to
a person who couldn't afford even a token price. I wanted it to be
*used*, it is. I'm sure Peter just wanted his tower to be useful to
someone, it is, me!

They'll end up with unsupported non-upgradable insecure machines just
waiting to become part of a bot net.

I'm sorry to hear that you're too poor to travel, perhaps you should
have worked harder or been more talented, but, never mind, alvey has
lots of money, perhaps he'll loan you some.

Exactly, when nobody wants it you have to either unload it at
