The laptop on which I am writing this has an I7, 16 gigs of RAM and 2 TB
of SSD storage, a bundle of USB ports, HDMI video out plus VGA, and a
DVD reader/writer.there aren't many need that it can't fulfill. You
don't need a monster tower these days.

My other laptop only has an I5 but it's probably more powerful than your
old I7, it can compile a 500 line C program in less than 2 seconds, and
works really well doing photo editing (it has a touch screen with a
stylus which makes tricky editing a breeze), and it cost less than $800.

The only need for anything other than a laptop these days is if you are
heavily into gaming or CGI.

has a lot of value.

Not so much these days, back when computer fairs were popular maybe.

As I have said, that is fine, but don't believe that it has an
appreciable monetary value.

If it had an appreciable monetary value then binning it would not have
been on the cards.

I did put a decent computer into it! A Gigabyte X58A-UD7 Mobo with an
i7, 12 GB of triple channel RAM and a Gigabyte GTX1050 graphics card.
Won't be used for Solitaire however.

Take note - I do not have a *monster tower*. I could have sworn I made
that clear in my previous post.
https://www.antec.com/product/case/p10-flux
My choice was limited by the mere fact that I wanted to accommodate the
1000W PSU and no glass panels. Everybody wants a see through computer
these days. Now that I decided to go with a 500W PSU, my case choices
would have been somewhat broader but this one is *quiet*. I like that.

I suspect Peter didn't want to be bothered with the *process* of sale.
He made that much clear on his original posts on the topic.
