Still missing the point, but anyway, I don't think many Brits wouldn't
be aware of the existence of the dish, even if they've never tried it.

It's right up there in the "local speciality" stakes, trying to make
the most of disgusting bits of animal, based on the fact that some
other bugger's eaten all the edible bits.

And like most of them it beggars belief that anyone would still choose
to eat it. Like most 'acquired tastes' most of the acquisition process
is about convincing your brain that you're actually going to do so.

I frequently use vi. I discovered it's not installed by default in a
docker container, this surprised me.

No, I'm pretty sure most people are aware of it (tripe).

Eating it, as you say, is another matter.

Tried it once, not a fan. I heard it was more or less dying out as a meat but an
influx of folks from Ethiopia has led to a resurgence due to its polarity there.

I'll eat most stuff, give brain a miss for weird squeamish reasons, tripe,
chickens feet, fish stomach all not worth the bother.

Wow. Not sure whether to be impressed or appalled

From the article you linked:
'It was described by one French food writer who couldn’t finish one as

My mother cooked it for my dad as a "treat", what with him being a

I know where to go.

Well, yes, and no. This isn't work related. Believe it or not, it's
motorcycling related. I'm attempting to get the club into at least the
20th century. I'm setting up a database for the results along with a
reporting tool and everything to sort out the points etc.

Getting stirling support from a certain Mr. Fisher.

Oh, it hardly gets me excited. The only meat I eat comes from the sea,
so I usually ignore all those weird dishes. But Mexican cuisine is a
part of life over here, and the difference between a taco and a burrito
is really pretty simple. It would be like calling a bowl of chowder a pizza.

Things like Docker and containers etc. are way above my pay grade and
even having never used them, their very esistence and systems like
them was one of several reasons (another big one was Jira) why I spent
loads of money trying to change career, even if it meant a
fifteen-plus grand pay cut.

Yet here I am, using vi (which I quite like in small doses) and
updating Jira tickets (which I don't).

I was using it this morning. Along with Textpad, Word, and a shitty
editor called ted. I keep getting the wrong keypress when I want to
search for text (vi - /, Textpad - Ctrl-F, Word the same, ted - F1
because using F1 for what every other application does, help, would be
ridiculously useful and consistent).

Hardly. It might better be likened to taking the Spanish word for an
omelette and using it to refer instead to a flat bread made from wheat
or corn... who'd do a thing like that, I wonder?

Hah. Seems to reflect the sort of dietary advice that I grew up with.
And indeed that I still findamentally eat by.

Odd though that the writer thinks that the advice this meta-study
seems to contradoct are "post-war" ideas. I mean, yes, of course
they're after WW2, but by 30 or 40 years; most immediately post-war
wisdom was focussed on getting adequate amounts of protein, calcium
and other specific nutrients thought to be lacking in the impoverished
economic and still-rationed food supplies of that time.
