Ta. I has a west-facing elevation and a neast-facing one: howsomedever I
have a nice vertical south-facing gable-end, and an ablutions block on
the south wall, on which I could erect an array.

Is there a piecemeal installation option? I can't afford a big outlay
like 9k, but half of that might be afforded.

I'm planning on going with this crowd https://solartricity.ie/ and
using these https://solartricity.ie/micro-inverters-from-talesun/ two panel
stackable inverters and probably the Amerisolar panels. I'll be looking at
the thick end of 5000 EuZu for the kit for a 6KW system and installing it
myself along the back fence (those stackable inverters make it a doddle) -
finishing with a couple of hundred <lbooyd generous estimate but the box is
pretty much full> to a sparks to hook it all into the fuse box.

I don't get the tbireazrag grant that way - but the other way costs
twice as much for a similar system (*after* the grant!) and they'd insist
on putting it on the roof and ruining my warm, airtight roof in the process.

Full disclosure - I may change my mind before the time comes, but
that's my current favourite.

Yup. I got 14 panels but I was encouraged by my neighbour who has 6
panels and still gets a goodly return. A decent company will measure up
your house on gurgle maps and give you options to suit your roof space
and pocket. And you don't need a flattery (which are quite zbarlous) -
you can sell surplus leccy to the grid as you generate it. But it's more
profitable to use it all yourself and for that porpoise you need the
flattery.

But unforget to keep an eye on pay-back periods. It will take me quite
some years to get back what I forked out.

This is a very real concern, especially as I'm now 81¾ and not at all
sprightly, but I have no intention of curling-up and dying just yet.
Well, ever, but events might overtake intentions innit.

What core? It's high-temperature plasma in a magnetic bottle.
Containment fields have failed on fusion reactors innumerable times,
this run was unusual because it lasted several seconds and was closed
down rather than going unstable.

So it was Teller, not Oppenheimer, who broached the idea, Fermi who
riffed on it at Trinity and Compton who got it into the rumor pipeline.

Bunkum now but not so much so then. Bethe says he "sat down and
looked at the problem" before declaring it bunkum.

TYVM for the pointer to the Bethe interview in SciAm!

In my case the financial options were:
1. keep it in the bank at feck all interest.
2. spend it on PV and flattery and re-name the FIT[1] and reduction of
leccy bill as interest. (I can sell it all on the bay of fleas to turn
it back into capital if I want to).

It's working out OK for me zu wise so far (apart from the con artistes
methods of the equipment suppliers causing stress).

[1] this scheme has now ended so new applicants can't get it.

Not at all a right-off.

munf PV gen Day bill Night bill
Nov 2021 - 49.7Kwh 137.6Kwh 39.1Kwh
Dec 2021 - 19.5Kwh 113.8Kwh 142.5Kwh (flattery went live mid Dec[4])
Jan 2022 - 48.7Kwh 48.6Kwh 196.3Kwh

I recon I need a full year to get meaning full numbers but already I can
see a swap over of my leccy charges from day to night rate and a slight
overall reduction of grid import.

I have only 6 panels of PV giving 1.8Kwp and an 8.2Kw flattery.
Even in Jan 2022 I saw PV being exported to the grid[2]. It'll take a
while to tinker with the settings to get the most out of the set-up.
When the house is in a quiescent state it uses 150w this rises to >400w
when the fridges are cooling and don't even look when the
swish-slosher[8] et al is on!

[2] flattery had topped up charge to 100% from sunshine. Day started at
85% (6.8Kw) from overnight charge.

[4] dreadful figures caused by incorrect settings dumping full flattery
to grid several times.

[8] I does like this term for the osshing chamine.
