You have always been, and always will be, completely and utterly

What you were discussing in spades.

Nothing irrelevant about rubbing your nose in your stupidity.

Chris is wrong of course™.

Apple, Google, Samsung, Amazon, Best Buy, as well as the three U.S.
carriers all offer trade-ins. Sometimes the trade-in value is tiny but
often it's beyond all reason, exceeding the price that was paid for the
traded-in phone. Walmart has trade-ins via
<https://walmart.cexchange.com/> but the trade-in values are poor.

And of course most people do NOT buy their phones from Amazon, eBay or
Google. Costco doesn't sell phones anymore. Most people buy from their
carrier, taking advantage of subsidies, or direct from the manufacturer.

"Carrier stores control around 85-90 percent of US postpaid phone sales"
according Wave7 Research, and more than 90% of those devices are from
Apple or Samsung.

35% seems pretty low for the percentage of trade-ins and private resale
but a lot of phones get passed to other family members and by the time
they are obsolete or broken they have very little value.

"According to CIRP, less than 10% of iPhone or Android users sell their
old phones. While the vast majority of Android users just keep their
previous smartphones, almost 30% of iPhone owners give them away in
trade-in programs." This has been the case for my family. I've traded in
two iPhones for Android devices and my son traded in his iPhone X for an
iPhone 13 Pro. So 30% trade-ins for iPhones and "less than 10%" of
iPhones and Android phones sold by the owner. And no, no one stands on
the street selling their old phone. They put them up on craigslist,
Nextdoor, eBay, Swappa, Digicircle, etc..

Incorrect.

Humour me. How do you share an SD card with five people, simultaneously and
regardless of where they are in the world? Looking forward to your mental
gymnastics in this one...

This really is trivial with cloud.

Now... ...I'm going to use a question mark here, so be prepared:

Don't you think that the issue of battery life is integral to the
question of whether or not one would NEED to turn off one's phone...

....to preserve enough battery LIFE...

....for the phone to have power when you might need it?

That's all one sentence...

....and it ends with a QUESTION MARK.

YES, that is PRECISELY what you said:

'You failed to understand the point I was
making, that there can be a good reason to turn the
phone off if you don't need to answer incoming calls. '

How can talking about something other than what I was talking about "rub

The actual resale/trade-in value is about 35% of what you claim it is.

The vast majority of people DO NOT sell their phones. Period.
Nobody is going to go through that hassle except people like you.

The vast majority of people DO NOT trade in their phones either.
Again, you have to find just the right hassle at just the right time.

The vast majority of people save it for a spare or give it away.
The resale value for the vast majority is that of a goat turd.

To be accurate, you have to take about 35% of the resale value that you
have calculated as the actual resale value taking that fact into account.

So if you think the resale value is $100, then it's actually only $35 on
average, given only about 35% of people trade or sell by your own numbers.

Any other calculation for resale value is completely bogus.

Are you really that stupid?
You don't know that Android phones have Wi-Fi?
And USB?

Even so, the iPHone will always cost more for photo storage.

Apple designed it to be that way.
Google didn't.

You're so stupid you don't even know Android phones have Wi-Fi on them?
And USB?

Go away.

Come back when you learn that to copy anything off of Android is as simple
as connecting to your Wi-Fi or even simpler if you use the USB cable.

Come back only after you figure out that Android phones have Wi-Fi & USB.

You know that it's easy.
I know that it's easy.
It's that idiot Alan who doesn't know this.

Anyway, what's that got to do with the overall cost of photo storage is
always going to be much higher for iPhones than for Android phones?

Apple designed it to be that way.
Google didn't.

iPhone primary storage costs a lot more than Android secondary storage.
It's never going to be anything else so iPhones always cost more.

I know it's easy to do...

Doing it consistently so that you have an up-to-date backup is the trick.

I know it's simple.

I also know that people are bad at remembering to do repetitive tasks...

....like copying all the data from their phone on a regular basis.
