Actually it's not just the cable costs since there are plenty of
after-market Lightning cables that sell for only about 2x the cost of a
comparable USB-C cable. It's the MFi royalties that Apple gets from
Lightning accessories.

In any case, with or without an EU rule change, Apple will eventually
follow what they already did with the iPad Pro and move to USB-C, for
two reasons: data speed and power. USB-C transfers data much faster and
can charge at much higher power levels.

nope. aftermarket lightning cables are comparable in price for similar
quality usb-c cables.

mfi royalties are a tiny fraction of apple's revenue.

it's a well debunked myth that apple uses lightning for revenue
purposes.

you don't know what apple will or will not do.

Also contrary to regulations if it has a lithium ion battery.

Well, better safe than sorry.

On our trip with Singapore Airlines, I had to take the (USB) power
pack from our (to be) checked baggage and put it in our carry-on (cabin)
baggage.

Also I think the referenced document is conflicting with itself. See
for example the section 'Baggage equipped with a lithium battery(ies)'
which says lithium ion batteries over 2.7 Wh must be carried in the
cabin, which is (IMO) in conflict with the 'Portable electronic devices'
section about laptops, cameras, etc., which *does* allow such batteries
in the hold.

Hmmm. I must be holding it wrong. I don't have any designer labels. Not
even Nikes - calling them designer is a joke.

I do, however, like well-made and reliable products. You get what you pay
for.

I'm very sorry, Chris, but I must inform you that any off topic post
here is forbidd...

No, let me modify that.

I must inform you that any off topic post here that is positive about
Apple products is forbidden.

Anything negative you'd like to say about them will pass without comment.

I bloody hate how reliable and well supported iphones are! I wish they'd
fall apart after two years so that I have to buy a new one.

Is that better?
