I had to look up heinz-57. So it means mixed ethnic background. But if
that mix is all white, you're still not off the hook with dsi1. I'm
Germanic (mainly Dutch), English, Scottish and Scandinavian. That
doesn't help either.

Oddly enough, that book was introduced to me in Sunday school. Back in those days it was okay. The teacher also made up some butter out of cream by shaking it up in a jar. Then the kids had butter and crackers. It's the only thing that I can remember about all my years in Sunday school.
You might be mixed-up in 57 ways but big deal. It doesn't mean much if you've forgotten about where you came from and the people that live there.

Last night I had cold somen with a green salad. I put little bomblets of wasabi in the somen so that I'd get blasts of hotness while eating those cold noodles. The salad dressing had some wasabi in it along with some ginger but I mixed in more wasabi and added some shoyu for a more intense experience. It was a pretty satisfying meal.

I didn't think it was racist either - when I was 6 years old. These days, I think you'll find that colored folks don't much care for it. My guess is that you don't much care about what colored folks are feeling.
There is no such thing as a Hawaii Sambo's version. The Little Black Sambo book I learned from Sunday school was the standard original version. I loved those crudely drawn pictures in the book - I still do.
The Sambo's restaurant version of the story was from their restaurant menu, which was written to sell pancakes. As far as I know, there was never any Sambo's restaurant in Hawaii.
