John's taste is too shitty for him to be a fag - even a "hippie" - type of fag...

OTOH he *could* have an aquarium that is a miniature "representation" of his mum's suicide - by - drowning...

That is true. We did that when we had to fill the fish tank. Let it
sit in jugs at least over night, but preferably 24 hours. I try to do
the same when I water my house plants, but I'm not sure if it really
matters.

Either way, that's one heck of a lot better than the cistern water I
grew up with at Dad's house. We sure didn't drink it, but I cringe when
I think that they did cook with it. It ran through some kind of
rudimentary filter system which had to be back-washed monthly.

I once saw a house for sale, out in the country, with not only a fresh
spring providing water, but it even had a private natural gas well that
someone paid to tap into years ago. One could set up a NG generator and
live completely off the grid. They had an electric pump set up, but the
kitchen porch still had a manual pump for water if someone so desired.
I would have loved to own that house.

But, it also made you impotent. And maybe you wouldn't be

Oh, that's generally we don't since Japan days. There, we only did it

it can be both along with possible other contaminants
a serious hobbyist will be filtering their water anyways.

yes, RO, distilled for a big setup is too expensive.
you lose water each day due to evaporation and also
some filtration removes water.

All true. Chlorine will evaporate from treated water overnight in a
container with no lid. Quicker way is to boil the water (uncovered pot).

This is better for houseplants too but city water still has other
additions, fluoride for example. Rain water is best for plants. Rain
water is probably best for humans too if not left to stagnate in a cistern.

It's silly that they still put fluoride in water, as almost
everyone uses fluoride toothpaste these days. They
quit making my favorite. FUCK YOU, TOM!

That will also drive out the oxygen, which isn't so good for fish.

Don't tell me you're afraid of the Fiendish Fluoridators?

There's so much crap in rainwater, I'd rather drink Detroit River
water. Oh, wait. I do.

if the cistern is covered and not contaminated to begin
with the water will be fine.

oxygenated water is usually considered to taste better
but we drink water that comes right out of the ground and
that doesn't get oxygenated or moved much at all until we
pull it out and use it. it has some small to it, i'm used
to that and it doesn't bother me.

We've been on rain water for the past 17 years. It beats city water
hands down.

I used to buy that Tom's, but the last few years, I've bought Pepsodent.
It's a $1 brand now, but recently, the grocer is selling them for
$1.50/ea. It's still a good deal, and it has the same sassafras flavor.

Sure. With toxoplasmosis, nobody would notice being
different from everyone else once everyone is infected.

You do have cat(s)? Enough said.

1.
"drinking untreated water (such as straight from rivers or creeks)
should be avoided"
We don't drink water from rivers or creeks.

2.
"Cats catch the parasite when they eat infected prey."
Our cats don't come outside.

3.
"Humans can become infected by eating this meat"
"Most importantly, many Australians like to eat their red meat rare,
putting them at real risk."

You're more at risk than me, meat eater. Enough said.
