I like to see what people who have never eaten certain regional dishes
in the Southern US before think about particular types of so called
"Southern" food. Cracker Barrel is fun! ;)

Joan, GM takes great pride in being a jerk. I posted some links a
couple of years ago; it was two *men* from England who were in the US
trying different foods. Not this couple and not at Cracker Barrel.

It's a stupid lame video in any case, but I guess it might be *somewhat* amusing to a low - IQ sort such as Jill, who squeals with girlish orgasmic delight at most every simple, ordinary, and routine thing...

I bet if a toy mouse were tossed at Jill, she'd breathlessly report *that* here, too, lol...!!!

She's a gal who strikes me as *very* "easily amused"... and self - centered as she is, makes sure *everyone* knows it...

I truly pity her that she doesn't strive to get more out of life...

I thought it amusing and interesting when they woman tried the
chicken after taking the breading off. She stated the chicken
was not seasoned *before* breading. Am I and Cracker Barrel
the only people who do not season chicken then dredge it into
seasoned flour?? The seasoned flour is just that, the seasoning
for the chicken.

When I use seasoned flour for a dredge I usually keep the seasoning
light and also season the meat directly.

Probably not the only people. But IMO the chicken and the breading
should both be seasoned, unless the breading is very light.

I'd season the chicken maybe an hour in advance of cooking,
so that the salt could penetrate the meat.

If I ate your chicken, I'd probably salt it several times at the
table, once I got past the flavorful crust.

I saw this video yesterday, but it was part of another Brits reaction to the video. It's fun to watch people try stuff for the first time.

The Brit reacting though did not get a full picture of Cracker Barrel and kept calling it a fast food restaurant as he didn't get to see more than just the table.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9DKdskTn14

I haven't been to Cracker Barrel since moving away from Kentucky :( I think they are here (Phoenix), but haven't tried yet. I want some biscuits and gravy now :)

Well, I must be in the minority. I just heavily season the flour and
that's about it. Same with country fried steak, the flour is heavily
seasoned for that as well but not actually the meat.

I haven't fried chicken in decades but I do prefer the chicken be
seasoned before it's coated & fried. The best fried chicken I've found
in this area has been injected with hot sauce first. Adds a nice kick
and the hot sauce ads a bit of salt.

The only chicken I fry is in the air fryer and those are wings. But
next time I'll season the chicken first, then bread them with seasoned
flour and see if I've found a new way to spice them up.

That was fun, too, thanks. True, it's not fast food. Cracker Barrel
sells the rocking chairs that line the porch, along with all sorts of
things in the "country store". I bought some nice bright Fiestaware
bowls and a very retro looking Fiesta milk pitcher at Cracker Barrel. :)

Cracker Barrel retaurants are strategically located near Interstate

She has a good point, though. You are indeed a loser.

I still don't get the benefits of an air fryer, not even a larger one.
Fried chicken needs to be deep fried (which I don't do at home) and IMO
the chicken needs to be seasoned before it is coated and cooked however
you choose to do it. Chicken itself is pretty darn bland.

Maybe it's time to conclude that air fryers are not for you and move
on?

I like chicken thighs. I season it a couple of hours ahead, and put
some under the skin as well as on top. Then into the air fryer, 20
minutes and a nice crispy skin.

Sure, it is different than deep fried. but still very good, faster,
easier, less clean up.

I was skeptical when I bought the air fryer but it is used quite often
with good results for many things. Reheats better than a microwave too.

I'm going to make some Tuesday, come on over for dinner and see how you
like them. The baked potato tonight was good too.

There are a couple things we do regularly with chicken thighs that I
have been thinking we should try doing in the microwave. Peri peri and
Tandoori both call for a really hot oven. I would have to adjust the
cooking time a bit but chicken thighs are are pretty resilient to over
cooking.

Hadn't thought about it but I season the breading crumbs. Since I
don't peel them off, works fine!
