I agree that the anti-vaxxers should be respected as much as they respect pro-vaxxers (i.e.
rational people). They should be respected enough to be made to pay for their own medical costs if
they contract COVID after refusing the prophylactic treatment being offered by the government (at
no cost to them). At least three governments around the world are planning to or have already taken
this route.

They should also respect others who chose to take all precautions against the virus by staying home
and self-isolating, even if it means losing their jobs. I strongly believe in freedom of choice but

"Death with COVID" doesn't mean that that is not what actually caused
death. As with AIDS COVID can weaken the body such that another thing
was the actual cause of death. So, although it wasn't the actual cause
of death, the person would not have died without it.

A total of 77 deaths was recorded, exceeding the previous national

"Today, is a very difficult day for our state," New South Wales (NSW)
Premier Dominic Perrottet said during a media briefing as the state
reported 36 deaths, a new pandemic high.

Only four of those who died in NSW had received their booster shot,
prompting the state's health officials to urge people to avoid delays
and get their third dose soon. Thirty-three were double-dosed.

"There needs to be a sense of urgency in embracing the booster doses,"
NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said. "For Omicron, we know that
the protection is lower and we need that next boosting to get that
higher level of protection."

ever since Covid began - Edmund and build seemed to think we were over

Aus. has had some pretty aggressive covid restrictions, which is why the
figures are so low
take a look at countries that were not so strict & see wow apauling thier
figures are so low.
UK >150000 deaths, Jan 15th - >280 deaths.

this may be why some Australians can see the need for vaccination

Pretty disastrous for those who would otherwise be alive but for
Covid-version-whichever. And their families, maybe with exceptions.

What are you comparing these numbers to?

Should I say "tell that to the thousands of families who lose loved
ones to flue every season"?

Numbers are just statistics; meaningless without context.

I've never like people getting over emotional about statistics; they
remind me of people who will raise $5m to save a single child while
letting millions of children die for the sake of a few dollars medicine
each.

Nope and I'm not sure that is what it said. Perhaps you missed the bit
where I suggested that context was important.

How does the "worst day ever since covid began" compare with the worst
day during a flu epidemic?

Articles that throw numbers out have become meaningless to an awful lot
of people. There are a lot of variables involved.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what either of them "seem to
think"; in the same vain I don't think responding in kind is
