It would be so good if a few prominent nations boycotted this. The England camp has been making noises about raising awareness over certain issues. Don’t know exactly what they have in mind but I get the impression that any such activity during the tournament will be forgotten about pretty much as soon as the final whistle blows. But if they were to boycott the tournament that would forever be in the history books. To this day the Moscow Olympics are known as the boycotted Olympics. Nothing would raise awareness more than the likes of Germany and England boycotting this thing, doubt it will happen though.

all, the African teams boycotted in 1976 (29 countries in all), and 14
Eastern Bloc countries boycotted in 1984.

There were also boycotts on some scale or other in 1956, 1964, 1988,
and even the 1966 World Cup.
