Just realised Grubby was thinking I was using the US Robotics *Courier*
professional grade modem. Nup, just the home grade *Sportster*. Don't
know what grade of modem was attached to the uplink of the Metva server.

I can't recall it being expensive. Certainly it was cheaper than
registering with a commercial ISP.

Yeah, did that too. Did you have a Fidonet email address? One of my
friends was a Fidonet Relay. He worked at the Telstra office in William
Street and his desktop was set to relay all Fidonet stuff from BBS to
BBS of an evening when unattended. Telstra office phones were unmetered
in those days and, importantly, phone usage not recorded.Wonder if
Fidonet still exists in any form? A quick lookup and I see that it does
indeed still exist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FidoNet#Resurgence
Given we are in the era of the internet, I suspect that the resurgent
Fidonet will be very different. After all, it was originally built
around dialup.

You just don't go to Cairns at this time of year, he's lucky that they
haven't had a cyclone. Winter there though is very nice.

I sort of expected the weather to be that way especially after all the rain.
We usually prefer to travel to Qld in winter but its been so long since
we have been out of Vic we jumped the gun:-)

Opposite for my brother who has spent many years in Qld mostly
Townsville, he's been posted to Melbourne and is finding it too cold.

Do you think? I don't know, that's why I asked.

The reason *why* I asked is that the contemptible piece of shit made the
statement that Warne died of a heart attack "after a tryst with an
LBFMPBFR", and later tried to justify that disgusting statement by
claiming that the area was known for it which is why men went there, and
Warne's very presence in the area when he could have been anywhere else
in the world confirmed it.

Sound bizarre? It gets worse.

He *also* stated that he knew the area well, had been there many times
and was aware of the goings on it was famous for, which leads me to
wonder why the accusations he applied to Warne do not apply to himself
just as equally.

Maybe he enjoyed the odd "tryst with an LBFMPBFR" himself. I mean,
according to him why else would he have been there?

I can't even recall what happened to mine. Presumably I gave them away.
Once I moved to broadband, they were redundant as far as I was concerned
so no hoarding of them at least.

The Philipines is where that term originated back in the Vietnam war
era. These days other countries rank equivalently high.

So much for your claim to be *worldly* Darren. You are as naive as all
get out.

Darren, you are doing it again - lying that is. I never said I had been
to the Koh Samui area many times. I said I had been to *Thailand* many
times. Never been to Koh Samui in my life. It's a *resort area* for
single males. In case you hadn't noticed, I haven't been single for
rather a long time.

Because, Darren, I do not go to $4,000 a night resorts where
*discretion* is assured. Single chaps do and this is why;

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10586511/Four-masseuses-seen-CCTV-leaving-resort-Shane-Warne-found.html

Please observe the Thai Masseuses in their *uniforms*. LOL

Ever had a *proper* Thai massage Darren? I'll give you a clue - they
don't wear their finest clothes and they might just need more than a
*purse* or small *handbag* to carry the massage gear that they will
need. Ah Darren, worldly you sure aren't!!!

See above! Again you lie. Again you show that you are naive. In fact,
I'd say you'd best remain attached to your mother's apron strings. It's
a big bad world out there and the *reality* of it might just shock you.

Indeed. A 2 hour+ "massage"? With *2 Masseuses*? You would have to be
*extremely naive* to not know what that meant. As soon as I saw the
*location*, I knew straight away. Everything that's emerged since then
has merely served to confirm my initial thoughts on the topic.

It's just sad that everyone is trying to sweep the truth under the
carpet. Warnie was a "lad" well known for such larrikinism, why don't
people just accept this was the way he was likely to go, likely with a
grin on his face. He wasn't a saint so don't try to sanctify him. He
died as he lived, a larrikin to the end.

All that Darren has managed to do now is show that he isn't worldly and,
in fact, is incredibly naive. He *lied* when he made that claim of being
worldly and his own *actions* proved it..

What a wretched and pathetic creature you are Fraudster.
Not long ago you went off the deep end when someone called you a pedo, yet
here you are *again*, not just repeating the very same slur, but doing it
the cowards' way, from behind a (snigger) killfail.

You are, by an enormous distance, the most despicable poster I've seen in
25 years of usenet.

Fork me! The Fraudster claiming to be "wordly"? I missed that.
Hahahahahahahaha.
One trip to NZ to stay with the wife's rellies and he's "worldly"?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Or is he "worldly" from all those literary masterpieces that he's read?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

If you want an indication of the Fraudster's "worldliness", raed this.

"Stay well away from the Gold Coast if you hate fags and posers
though, as it's chocka block full of them. It's the only place I've ever
seen where the footpath cafe chairs face the road". 11Mar06

It's inconcievable that a 43yo man *anywhere* in the first world could have
written that this century.

alvey
Still laughing at "worldly"...

yeah I had some and even some SIPPS and old RAM for early macs, but I
can't find it now. I think Ian must have taken it, and just left the
newer stuff. I remember him saying he didn't want the new stuff. I think
maybe he got a good deal for his money.

Probably, but he collects, tests everything, repairs where required and
gives a warranty when he sells it and you don't have to deal with any of
that. He's known to be fair as a buyer all things considered.
