Hum. I have a beard. I have a check shirt, but only one of each. I also
drink what properly brewed beer I can get my hands on[1]

[1] i.e. not Newcastle Brown (whoever he is), nor Fosters, Grotney's

I'll have a pint of Black Dog IYWBSK

I will admit that at least it doesn't look as though you did it in
an afternoon while drunk, armed with only a blowlamp and a hacksaw.

I quite like what's been done with it but I don't much like the
numberplates put to the side like that, whether they're correct

are you taking ACE inhibitors for blood pressure or immunosuppressants for
arthritis etc? These can interact with allopurinol.

Some other counter-indications as well such as thyroid, liver or kidney
problems.

I used to get it occasionally but not now. I stopped drinking gin, at home
at least, for a variety of reasons. Just stick to wine at home now, more
often red than white. Down to 50 units a week from >100 a few years ago. I
bought a 10 pack of Old Speckled Hen ale before Xmas and still have not
finished it.

Yes, it looks good. I'm not a fan of the side plate business either
but I'm not sure how it would have been achieved neatly otherwise.

On the correct age plate matter, it's the ubiquitous pressed aluminium
"ooh, look a classic" black plate that winds me up. Although, I think
in that case it's been done for colour co-ordination.

Having said that, a pressed aluminium yellow plate (ok for age) or
riveted numbers on yellow (not ok) would have looked pretty good.

The only time I got it was after regularly eating a lot of tinned
sardines. Oily fish is good for you they say, but sardines are rich in
purines, apparently.

<snip>

Saw an AJS today with a pressed 'bacon slicer' plate.

It was a 125 with a '71' plate.... And that's not 1971.

Rear plate was regulation yellow...

ACE inhibitors so that probably explains it.

I doubt I drink five units a week these days. Ah well.

As a véhicule de collection, a black plate is legit on the SO SAAB and I
quite like it.

I was fairly sure that's actually unlawful so looked it up. It is.

However, I was surprised to learn only after September 2001.

"Motorcycles and motor tricycles registered on or after 1 September
2001 must only display a number plate at the rear of the vehicle.

If you ride a motorbike or motor tricycle registered before 1 September
2001 you can also display a number plate at the front, but you do not
have to."
