I agree, it does look good to my eyes. But never seen a side stand on the
off-side before. I wonder what the reason for that was.

Difficult to say with no view of the nearside, but possibly there's
simply nowhere to attach it.

Hmm. The K series has the centre and side-stand assembly bolted to the
gearbox, there are four hefty threads into the box for this. So I suspect it's possibly
put on the RHS for aesthetic reasons, it's a single-sided swing arm so on the other side
the stand would be just hanging in the wind on its own- normally it would sort of
hide underneath the exhaust (in fact I think there was a stop on the exhaust for it
to nestle up to, possibly) but on this bike the exhaust exits under the seat.
I guess with the stand up it's going to sit alongside the swing arm as it's been built.

My old Armstrong had it's stand on the "wrong" side - which led to many
comedy moments.

In the ex-army Armstrongs case I think it was so that it didn't lean
into the road when it was being used to marshal convoys as part of the
British Army of the Rhine.

Going off at a tangent, are some people 'left-footed' in a similar way
to which some are 'left-handed'?

Yes, but: I'm right-footed for kicking purposes, but regarded as
left-footed for snowboarding.

To be honest there were many comedy moments with that bike and I'm
not convinced most of them had anything to do with the sidestand.

I only found out after the fact that I hold a hockey stick left-handed
and get up on a slalom water ski left-footed. Both methods seemed
perfectly natural to me, despite the fact that I am right-handed
and right-eyed.

hmm. As a bodysurfer, it doesn't matter. I've never stood on a board, so
not sure. In baseball, I batted left, but threw right. I write
left-handed. Can't think of any other ways to determine. Maybe power tools.

Around 1961 I bought a Weble & Scott single-barrelled ½-choke 12-bore
from T.W.Bland in IIRC William IV Street in that London.

Couldn't hit a thing with it so during my lunch-hour, 'consulted' in the
shop.

One wall was clad in tongue and groove boards and I was bidden 'Choose a
knot in the wood, then, with both eyes open, point at it. Now, close
your right eye. Are you still pointing at it?'

I admitted that I was.

'You have a left master eye.' was the ajudication.

So, I am left-eyed, write right-handed, prefer to use an axe and a
longbow left-handed, and never noticed which foot I preferred to kick with.

Most things I can do either-handed, including writing, but despite
having a left master eye I have to use a shotgun on my right shoulder
and an eye patch on the sinister peeper. This is because I have a
pacemaker in the left shoulder and my shotgun is a 10-bore double...

Up to my comment above, it had not occurred to me that such a phenomenon
might exist.

+1
- well to the x-country anyway. There was no team.

Neither am I. The only sport I competed in was rifle team, in high
school. Went to the state championships. But that's the antithesis of
athleticism. You try not to move a muscle except for one index finger,
and you control everything, including breathing and heartbeats. BTW, I
did shoot right-handed.

As for team sports, I was the statistician for my school basketball
team, which is the only sport that interests me. My college team is now
2 wins from the national championship, which is kinda exciting.

Correction - I also competed in a few bodysurfing contests. That was
mostly for the party vibe, though. At the Pipeline in Hawaii, the chance
of ever getting the place good with only 4 other guys out with you is
absolutely nil. One year I advanced, so got a dozen waves over 6'
Hawaiian, and it only cost me $50. A steal.
