Had the Americans not joined the European war, it would probably ended
in a draw with the Russians kicking the Germans out of Russia, and
possibly parts of eastern Europe, but leaving Germany holding western
Europe. The British would not have had the resources to invade Europe on
their own, and the Russians couldn't have driven into Germany without
there being a western front.

I'm not so sure :)

Remember, it took the Russians a *long* time before they started to
drive the Germans back, and the bulk of that Russians success only came
after the Germans had started to suffer heavily at the hands of the
Allies in the West. It wasn't because the Russians had got better at
their game, but because the Germans had become increasingly hamstrung at
theirs.

The effect of the Allied air campaign over Germany during WWII simply
cannot be over stated. It was the "Second Front" that the Russians had
called for since Germany first invaded Russia, and it's effect on
Germany's ability to wage war in the East was staggering. Had it not
ever occurred the Russians would have suffered a *very* different fate
in my opinion.

Dieppe, and later "Market Garden" showed that the British were
outstandingly good at monumental military fuck ups :)

initially the Ruskies suffered many unnecessary military and civilian
losses because Stalin hesitated in committing to war with Germany,
simply because he didn't believe the initial reports of a German
invasion. He couldn't believe his 'friend' and ally Hitler would turn
against him. then there were several significant factors that resulted
in the German defeat, none the less being the Russian T-34 tank. Hitler
made so many blunders in Barbarossa, but one of the lesser spoken of is
his desire to use the Tiger tank he was so proud of, and he delayed some
of his military effort waiting for sufficient numbers to arrive. had he
not done so, and relied on his Panzers alone he would have fared better.
when Tigers were eventually used their weight often caused them to bog
down in soft ground. but the massive production of the T-34, which
Stalin was able to sustain at will after he moved production East, was
one of the most significant factors in the fight against Hitler.

I mean, have a look at Normandy. The Allies were able to get a decent
foothold on the beaches because Hitler was asleep, and everyone was too
scared to wake him up and ask for permission for a counter attack :)

Except the Germans lost. The Russians were most wasteful and reckless as
suffered massive losses but the fact that they accounted for 76% of
German military deaths had a huge impact on the outcome of the war.
