Also excellent is the Harry's Farm YouTube channel, same chap (Harry Metcalfe) as the excellent Harry's Garage.
He is a proper farmer but also a bike and car enthusiast and created the Evo sports car magazine.

Looking at my own family tree who included traditionally large farming families in Northumberland that supported big broods.

If you can support and provide for that many, then I don't see a problem.

If you can't support that many and live in a council house on benefits, that may be a different matter.

I always thought that in farming it was the other way round - the more
kids you have the more free labour you have available, the lower your
outgoings in the long run.

You could call it investing in the future, I guess.

Depends on the size of the farm. If you haven't enough land to sustain the resulting families you're
storing up problems for the future and argues about inheritance.

the global population is, to a large extent, in the wrong place, so we need
to encourage more migration.

In Spain people are rewarded for giving birth or adopting (a cash sum). I
think it's purpose is to slow down depopulation in rural areas. I don't
know what happens in cities.

It's the fairly recent Westernised concept of "retirement" that needs to be scrapped, with some sensible age profiling re jobs.
Stuffing ever more people into small countries is a vicious circle, patently ludicrous.

A worthwhile environmental goal for the planet and other species would be to reduce global population back to 3 billion (1960) by 2080.

Then again, the irresponsible proliferation of large diesel powered, lpg lugging, plant-killer motorhomes will do for us anyway.

Well under way, but not necessarily in a good way. My home town has
quintupled since I was born. The supply of water hasn't. We get water
from the Colorado river, but so does Los Angeles, Arizona, Utah, Nevada
and Colorado, all of which have increased in population. We also get
water piped from Northern California, but that is threatened by drought,
wildfires, and other challenges. Most reservoirs are at a fraction of
normal volume, and more droughts are coming. The influx of people are
mostly coming from other states, but also Latin America. We have a
serious homeless problem and many think the solution is building more
housing, but they don't include new water sources.

And therein is the real issue, resource utilisation. IIRC on average a North
American person uses 3x+ the resources of a European and 20x+ that of an Indian.
