Nope.
The Twentysomething probably has the same world view as the middle-aged car
enthusiast, just not the same finances...

It's funny, but until it was mentioned here I've never so much as
thought of Tesla being perceived as a "look at me" marque. I thought the
attraction to them, which incidentally is quite small if sales figures
are any indicator, was due to them being a novelty vehicle. Not because
of the name....

Indeed.

Let it go Daz. It was a *long* time ago :)

Indeed their is, and it's not hard to see why. Even Musk himself has
publicly stated that they have quality problems.

Yep. Commodores and Falcons in the last 20 years of their lives were
poorly built heaps of shit. Prior to that they were just as poorly
built, but they were a whole lot more reliable.

A case in point. I recently had one of my kid's schoolteachers bring his
VE R8 Clubby to me for a power steering pump repair. Unfortunately on
the late model Commy V8's they use a cheap arsed and incredibly
unreliable power steering pump which spits seals out and floods the
engine bay with transmission fluid, and because the Alternator lives
directly underneath the power steering pump that's usually the first
thing that gets completely saturated.

The end result is a vehicle that needs a new power steering pump and a
new Alternator all for the sake of a 4 buck oil seal....

They're both pretty average engines, but being the "worst" is debatable.

ROTFL :)

His must have been a "special order", as that description goes against
the grain of just about every comment on the things. I've seen two up
close. Passenger in one, and looked at another that was parked next to
me in a carpark once. I had no idea where they were made and didn't
really care, but *both* of them looked like they had the fit & finish
detail of a 20 year old Falcadore.

> Seats were comfortable and, although the interior was rather spartan,

The interior is probably the worst aspect of them in my opinion. The
seats were okay, but the rest of it looked like a kit car. It gave off a
very distinct impression of being "unfinished", and that fucking great
info screen in the middle of the dash looks like it was stuck on as an
after thought.

The fake woodgrain across the dash looks like they bought it from K-Mart :)

Indeed it is, but just to put some perspective back into the argument,
that time of 7:35 was for *one* "hot lap" at the hands of a professional
race car driver.

Impressive, sure. But just to throw in even *more* perspective, that lap
time puts it behind a 2011 Nissan GT-R, a 2015 Alfa Giulia Automatic, a
2017 Chevy Camaro, a Dodge Viper, a Jaguar XE and a shit-tonne of
Chevy Corvettes. Just for shits and giggles factor, it was just 8
seconds quicker than a Honda Civic Type R :)

Impressive for an electric car, but hardly setting the performance
vehicle world on fire.....

The comment was actually a bit of a joke based on a very bad experience
with a new Mazda E2200 van I bought new in 1984.
Appalling customer service, lack of warranty support and their refusal
to acknowledge that the problem (cylinder head cracked 4 times) was a
serious issue affecting almost every van with the same engine, should
have been recalled and the engines replaced but they just fobbed
everyone off and treated owners like vermin so I hate Mazda with a passion.

Yep. They certainly are, and as much as the Ford 5.4 3 valve is a piece
of crap, the GM "alloytec" is an absolute *cunt* of an engine. It's an
asthmatic oil drinking turd of a thing that I wouldn't own if they were
giving them away for free.

operates a half-arsed killfail *and* is incapable of admitting his errors,
then I'll not be dropping any tears into my Grigio anytime in the
forseeable.

Give it up keith. You're just not cut out for this.
