They can be that but I suspect that many BMW owners are well aware of
the pitfalls but still buy them because they are such a great car to drive.
Son's 2008 M3 was expensive to buy and costs a mint to maintain but its
a brilliant thing to drive, the 4.0lt NA V8 makes amazing power and the
sound of it at full noise is something to behold.

Owned a few of those 40;'s to 50's Vauxhalls in my teens. But the one
that caught my attention in there was the BX Vauxhall. Owned one for a
while in the sixty`s.. Forgotten all about it till I saw that pic. Can`t
remember what happened to it..

Agreed.

Unless it's some special "sports" model, English cars aren't very
collectable. Especially old shitheaps like Vauxhalls, Wolesleys or
Vanguards. They were all horrible, ugly underpowered cuts of things with
levels of reliability that made Italian cars look interesting.

Why would anyone be? :)

I had a '53 Vauxhall ute once and it was a good car, but that's because
it had a 383 Chev, turbo 400 and a 9 inch in it. The starter motor made
more power than the original vaucky engine ;)

Good question but the same question could be asked about very many car
brands.
