You reap what you sow? You use such language as a cudgel to 'slime'
others, but there is the 'fighting fire with fire' aspect as well which
comes back at you. You make your usenet experience what it is.

Here's 'etresoft' doing the exact same thing on the ASC!

I don't know why he dragged the App store into it but the question is:

Did you install an app if an installer app/script wasn't involved?

If "install" means: 'put it on your computer' the answer is: Yes.

If "install" means: 'put it on your computer via the use of an
"installer" the answer is: No.

Glasser is saying: Yes, you did "install" an app despite not using an
"installer".

Isn't this point moot, given the fact that apps using some tech like
webkit can do what you're complaining about (files strewn around)?

I see only one person tied to EtreSoft there: Tess Pierce. I do not really use
LinkedIn much, though, so maybe there are more I am missing.

Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.

It does not have an installer, but it is still added to the computer and ready
to be used.

To add most apps to macOS you merely drag and drop them into the Applications
folder (or, really, elsewhere on the hard drive, though the Applications
folder is the recommended place). When you first run the application it does
some things in the background, including putting files elsewhere in the
User/Library folder (and sometimes elsewhere, though to do that it needs to be
given special permissions).

Another common way is to use the Apple store, which does a few other things in
the background. And then there are applications, such as the ones from Adobe,
which walk you though an installer and often have an uninstaller.

Each type of installing, though, leads to files being added to your Library
folder and uninstalling them does not generally remove all files associated
with the application.

The link is dead and it does not seem to be at least an actively used
subdomain. Not sure what you are looking for with that.

You tend to ask about non-Apple products and then suggest that they are
somehow doing something wrong. In this case you seem focused on the idea that
the common fact that applications leave files is bad, but only for EtreCheck.
I do not see you applying that to other applications.

Same reason you've been banned at so many other forums: repeated
trolling, sliming, and stalking. Even after being warned, you persist.

It's too bad that banning is about the only remedy forum mods are
allowed to use. I'd like to see an option to use something that's more
significant, more permanent, and more expensive to you. You're a very
slow learner, but you might get the point if they were allowed to
remotely disable your computer, permanently, for example.

OK, so they do a lot more than make than one piece of software.

Did YOU drag EtreCheck into Applications before you ran it?

Did YOU grant it Full Drive Access?

Yes. I am familiar with those.

So far, with the AppCleaner facility which you introduced me to, I

It might be one of those things like when people speak of Macs and PCs, but in
other context Macs *are* PCs, just different than Windows PCs.

Here is another way to look at it. Re-install EtreCheck, put in the
Applications folder, and launch it. You can then quit it and drag it to
AppCleaner. Do not delete it... at least yet.

Look at each of the files it finds. Notice on the far right there is a
magnifying (find) icon. Click it for each file. Notice how many other
applications are saving data in the same folders.

For example, with the Caches folder, I have over 100 items in that folder,
each tied to a different application. This is true of every one of the files
it shows (that info is saved for many apps).

These files are generally tied to how macOS works.

I do not have any concern with EtreCheck having files in those common areas.

your help.

Something *IS* wrong with the whole Etresoft set-up. Maybe you can help
me find out what if you can find the time. Perhaps Steve will help too.
All I'm after is the truth and to stop 'bad guys' hurting others.

so you got rid of some support files. should you ever reinstall EtreChech you
should have to reset your settings. Congrats, you just made more work for
yourself. You’re an idiot.

I don’t use cleaner apps, they tend to delete files I want to keep, As
I’m not a lazy, paranoid, ignoramus (that’s _you_, arsenugget) I have a
look myself and delete (or not) files as I see fit.

Why would I help you stalk an innocent person? Are you so self focused
and wrapped up in your goofy bullsh*t it makes sense to you that someone
you view as your enemy would help you? If you're trying to convince
people you gave up drinking, this isn't the way.

You, ignoring my help and the crawler doing his crawling, isn't a "point
of view", it's a fact anyone can verify.

You say that, yet, you ignored my previous attempts to help you, as well
as the attempts of other posters. You're clearly lying here, you only
want the 'help' you believe would aid you in pursuing your stalking
agenda. The idea that you seem to believe you've hidden this fact is
goofy.
