That's true. Yes it was a Greene King place back then. I got the
feeling that there was a bit of a management crisis evolving at the
time (I wasn't the only one complaining). Maybe it had just been taken
over at the time? I can't imagine that the stroppy cow is still in
charge there, surely somebody would have strangled her by now?

Judging by trip advisor (not that I normally take much notice of it) you could be in for a rocky ride !

I just looked at it on google street view and it looks exactly like it did when I was a kid, we used to park in the car park and spend a day on the beach, wandering along to the lido at Saltdean occasionally.

I'm not really fussed about a beer that night as I haven't had a drink since the end of October. Will partake of a few Fri/Sat though.

I looked, quite a contrast to booking.com reviews but many of the TA ones
are from last summer when people were moaning about the shortages of food
items on the menu, a national problem. The accommodation reviews are better
on other sites.

Some local guys saw a camera van filming the neighborhood and staged it.

Tell me about it, I grew up in Worthing and moved to Oxford in about
1980. Worthing actually has a bye-law to prohibit shops on the sea
front and prevent it becoming 'vulgar' like Brighton.

He wanted to do proper "touring" with eiter guided or get there yourself
+ backup.

I was up for getting involved, but it was the finance side that finally
put him off.

you need substantial working capital as you cannot spend the punters' cash
until they have had the holiday, but to get the best rates, need to pay the
hotels in advance. It comes under package holiday regulations so you have
to have separate bank accounts, bonds, insurance etc.

I knew Alistair of MCi Tours and he had to raise his rates substantially
when these new regs were introduced ~20 years ago. He bailed out many years
ago and sold the business, which seems to be still going but eye watering
rates.
