Wait till you have a fern with the fingerprint sensor in the screen. I
vastly preferred my old Nexus 6 [1] with the reader in the back, it's
more awkward to use the screen one and it misreads far more often than
the one on the back. Sadly, it looks like back-mounted readers are no more.

Mother got almost got identified as an alien at Chicago airport, when
fingerprint scanners couldn't find her assured human fingerprints.

The secret fix is to rub your fingers through ya hair, and get them
oiled with natural.

I was standing there like hoping I would not be next identified as as
the son of an alien.

I mean, applying this anti-green pigment paint is a messy job.

(Er, whoops - I said that out loud)

Is the 1st prize for the winning mollusc to escape. Mind yew if the
winning mollusc is an octopus it has probably already escaped.

I do not know if it is an urban miff, but there is a story of a seaside
aquarium who found that its fish were disappearing overnight. When they
staked the aquarium out, overnight. They discovered their octopus was
squeezing out of its aquarium and returning, having eaten its fill.

Octopuses along with eels and orang-utans are notorious escape artists
when in captivity. Eels can escape through the narrowest opening, as can
octopuses, however octopuses share an intelligence with orangs, that
allows them to escape after opening locked doors.

Orangs have been observed, observing their keepers opening doors, and
then using that observation for themselves to escape.

I really liked the painted snail. I think I'll go out later and find
some to colourify. Anyone got a spare screwdriver to stir the paint.

Without remembering the details, I remember a programme on the idiot's
lantern made by one of Mike's compatriots (?) who lived on the West
Coast of Canada or, maybe, Alaska. He spent a winter with an octopus,
each getting to know each other. It was a delightful programme. The sad
part is that despite their intelligence octopuses have a relatively
short life, living long enough to bread just once.

The idea of being at Chicago airport is alien to me.

(I was invited to my Brother-in-law's (second) marriage in Chicago, but
declined on cost & covid grounds.)

It's now common for office workers to be expected to use their personal
mobile phones (cheek!) to log themselves into the company desktop via 2FA.

I once jbexed in a hotel call centre that had little very mobile signal
for SMS as much of it was in a basement. So the google authenticator app
was the solution to that.

It also was a solution for those that didn't want to give their mobile
phone number to Google.

Which is why we must ensure we never keep octopuses and orang-utans in
the same aquarium.
They will unite and replace us as top species.

I was in transit through Chicago airport once. I had several hours to
spare so I went out and about through the city taking photographs of
the deserted streets.

Deserted streets in Chicago on a week day? Well, it was February, the
temperature was minus something near where Fahrenheit and Celsius
converge and I was the only one idiot enough to go out in that. Mad
Dogs and Englishmen, eh?

Still, I liked it enough to go back one summer and spend the best part
of a week exploring in the sunshine.

Perhaps if they would try to biscuit instead, it would be less
debilitating and they would live longer.
