That doesn't right at all for the average in-freezer ice maker.
At most 1.5% for my Samsung. There is no separate condensor or
heating element for the ice. It turns on once every 90 minutes to
check the level of ice in the bucket (an arm swings down and back
up) and the motor that ruins the twisting motion of the ice tray
for release (5 seconds). Also the pump for the water to refill
the tray (3 seconds). The freezer would be the same temp with or
without ice maker capability.

Energy consumption is NOT an issue for an in-freezer ice maker.
The convenience is worth 10X the actual energy consumption.

And the American ice maker drama continues. Who would have known?

Good, you didn't take me up on that. I "failed" a stress test the
next morning and have been unavailable until now. Apparently I
had a moderate apical inferior wall MI (heart attack) in the
previous 7-10 days that I didn't even feel.

Pretty cool, eh? So from now on, anybody mentions "heart attack",
I say, "Pbbbt! Pussy! Piece of cake!".

But we could have figured out what was wrong with the fridge in a
few steps and maybe even fixed it without needing parts. What was
the problem or is there still time?

I don't care about the money, and picking up a bag at the grocery
store is more convenient. Our bottom-drawer freezer has better
accommodation for a bag of ice; the pull-out where we'd naturally
keep ice trays (1) moves, which would slosh the water until it
freezes and (2) is chronically full.

That's nothing to take lightly, some treadmill time and dietary upgrades are called for.

But first:

"...initial management should be directed toward the treatment of myocardial ischemia, with continuous ECG monitoring and administration of aspirin, intravenous heparin, and βeta-blockers...

Wake up call, don't sleep on it.
