Yeah, it was indeed a great save from a point blank range Aboubakar header.

A couple of good chances for Cameroon but The Gambia are basically doing a good job of containing them. 0-0 HT.

When full some of these Cameroon stadiums actually look the real deal, I can certainly see this stadium in Douala hosting a World Cup match. It actually looks like a World Cup match as The Gambia's kit (red tops blue shorts) looks like Chile or South Korea.

I guess the realistic hope for the Gambia was to keep it 0-0 and go to PKs, I dont think they had a shot on goal yet? But it looks like Cameroon will be playing either Egypt or Morocco in the semi final, which I think is the harder route to the final, well maybe not, Tunisia and Senegal are tough as well.

Oh well, time to see if that convoy of freedom fighters have taken over Parliament yet, thank goodness I am safe here, but they got trucks and vehicles and I am only about an hour and half away, so I gotta be on alert.

None of the Convoys have arrived yet (they will), it looks more like a freezing cold Canada Day than a protest, but maybe they are waiting until Monday (when the house resumes) and then they will storm the Parliament.

I have no problem with the red. Burkina Faso win, what I thought was a chippy game. I dont know if these teams have history, but it just seemed bad natured, but not totally over the top bad.

The ref seemed to blow for full time a minute early, the second time a Tunisia match has been finished early. That said the ref could have played another 90 minutes and I don’t think Tunisia would have scored.

Yeah, I was out during the first half but have got back in time to see the highlights (what few there were).

Egypt gave away a penalty needlessly when the left back (Ashraf?) slid in, missed the ball and got the man. Just the sort of tackle defenders are told not to do these days. Morocco converted the penalty.

The grounds looks empty and I mean proper AFCON empty, rows and rows of empty seats. I guess with these both being North African teams they're not exactly local and travelling fans at tournaments are known to dwindle in numbers as the tournament goes on as people can only get so much time off work or afford to stay for so long. That said, this looks really bad, a few days ago Cameroon formally declared it was applying to host the 2030 World Cup and here we are with a continental championship quarter final and a largely empty stadium. I can understand the locals saving their money for the Cameroon games but then that only demonstrates that the ticket prices have been set too highly. In terms of previous tournaments won this game is the equivalent of Italy v Holland and we all know that wouldn't be played in an empty stadium in a European Championship.
