Let me give you some facts about The Odd Bodkin..

He's not a Scientist

He's not a Physicists

He's not a Mathematician

He's not a Philosopher

He's just in fact...

a woodworker, a carpenter..

a maker of fine toys, tools, tables.

All of this is true, except that a woodworker is distinct from a carpenter.

There is a distinction. Bodkin, posing as an artisan of a fine craft, charges you 10,000$ for a fucking table.

He, as the fraudster Einstein, sell his shit as an extreme conjunction of art, craft and absolute differential geometry.

And the suckers fall for it, hypnotized by a product elaborated by a mathematician/philosopher.

He's not different from Einstein, a fraudster, and collects other people's money in a similar way.

Then, he come here to vent his frustration, resented and dreaming like in the play Les Miserables.

But Elaine Page did succeed being 47, at Britain Got Talent. Maybe, if he persist, still have a chance.

Now, the question you are probably asking is...

What about The Odd Bodkin 'interest' in Relativity?

The answer should be obvious...he's an enthusiast.

You know...just a hobby he picked up to get
his mind off his ...woodwork.

Look at how The Odd Bodkin occupies himself, he loves talking to cranks...it amuses him.

It's what.. entertains him.

> It's what.. entertains him.

Mmmm......

Not so simple. Retired mathematician (not a physicist) --> Woodworker (not a physicist neither a mathematician) --> amateur physicist

The path is clear: Bodkin is a crank in disguise!

He knows he's an opinionated outsider: loves to be opinionated but knows the rejection here for anti-relativity posters.

So, he uses his "opinionated amateur wannabe physicist" costume just to plant his points of view without the burden of being mocked
by other relativists (not that they think he's a bright star).

But he knows he goes into muddy waters when writing about physics, so he raise his shields:

1) Deeply relativist (go Einstein, go).

2) "I've read 200 books about physics and I bought every single word."

3) Nobody here will touch Einstein's character or legacy.

His shields allow him to slip, stealthily, his own pet theories about whatever, which are forgiven because are conveniently disguised.

It's like in the movie "The Goodfather", where the traitor to the family is more than cooperative with the family, but carry treason within.

Bodkin is a crank in disguise, I tell you. It only takes to read several historic posts to see how he ventures with his own thoughts carefully.

Smart cretin.

You forgot one thing. By all evidence, it appears that he has forgotten
more physics than you'll ever know.

A custom table is only worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If someone is willing to pay $10,000 for a table, then he is getting what he paid for... despite what you think, which is worthless in any case...

Well, not every table. Only a very nice, very large, very well built, very
ornate table. With 18 chairs. Made from hardwood beech and West African
ebony. That one I charged $12,000 for.

Well, actually that was commissioned work that I collected money for. I

The Odd Bodkin is so immersed in physics textbooks that it becomes differcult for him to understand ideas that go away from the standard textbooks, or
differs what is found in most scientific textbooks. He is simply incapable of comprehending ideas that depart from textbooks because he is a self-taught textbook fanatic.

I mean, has the odd bodkin *ever* read a book? (besides conformed traditional scientific textbooks) (he seemed to have stumble on a relativity textbook)

(besides https://www.dummies.com/crafts/woodworking-for-dummies/)

The Odd Bodkin is a '''learn as you go''' student of relativity.

You get a sense he has to do research everytime he responds to a post.

'learn as you go'

There is a difference between 'knowing' something and 'reseaching' something...

he spends most of his time researching something because he...simply....doesn't....KNOW.

must be tiresome...

and all dat wood.

Indeed.

There are those here, including Richard Hertz for example, who believe that
unless you pour your whole life into one interest and one occupation,
you’re a failure.

I looked in Wikipedia. There’s a Paul Draper at Purdue University, not too
far from where you are in Ohio. But he’s a philosophy professor. He does do
some stuff with philosophy of science. Is that who you think I am?
