Just after sundown is night. It’d be foolish to try to see it at midnight.

All you have to do is go to NASA’s page, put in your zip code, and it will
tell you when it will be visible in the sky over your location. You can say
you wouldn’t dream of even looking.

Bodlkin you swear to GOD and hope to die, on your mother and father graves (if they are dead) that you saw the
ISS using a telescope? Yes or no would suffice as an answer.

Yes.

Now do it yourself. It’s not hard. Someone will let you look up in the sky
with their binoculars, and no one is going to whack you on the head if you
try to look up. What are you afraid of?

You are saying that you saw a clear image of the ISS, at night with binoculars but from Sacramento CA, on a clear day I can see the sierra nevada mountains that are 100 miles away. If a 747 jumbo jet that is close to the size of the ISS were to pass the mountains I would not be able to see the 747 jet from Sacto. using binoculars yet the ISS is 250 miles from the earth.

I did not use a telescope, and I did not see details such as the solar
panels. I did see what I expected to see, a very bright star that moved
at a steady speed across the sky, exactly what was predicted.

Apparently you seem to think that doesn't "count" because I didn't see
details. Too bad. Oh well.

I did like, however, the web page you pointed out that had many actual
images of the ISS taken through ground telescopes.

Bodkin didn't say he saw it at midnight, did he.

Powerful telescopes can see objects that the naked eye cannot see. This
has been known since Galileo.

"I did see what I expected to see, a very bright star that moved
at a steady speed across the sky, exactly what was predicted."

So it may not have been the ISS that you were viewing since you did not get a clear view of the ISS which would include the solar panels; therefore, it could have been a jet or a drone? Also, you did not see images similar to the following, correct?

https://www.google.com/search?q=amateur+iss+photos

And it would probably unlike that Bodkin saw images similar to those depicted since as I pointed out the range of a pair of binoculars is limited.

Unless Bodkin was reading his son's superman comics and Bodkin thinks he has super powers that can be used to see the ISS.

Michael Moroney do you swear to GOD and hope to die, on your mother and father
graves (if they are dead) and on the graves of you ancestors that you saw the ISS which includes "the details of the solar panels" using a telescope? Yes or no would suffice as an answer.

Michael Moroney and Bodkin both have you have not seen a clear image of the ISS. You both have only see an illuminated dot in the sky propagating across the sky seen at night. It that correct?

It is OK to say that you made a mistake since science is based on peoples mistakes. People are not perfect and we certainly would like to get this matter cleared up.

Unfortunately for you, you are unaware that you are an idiot. The ISS can be seen by anyone who knows where and when to look... why don't you just try for yourself? I myself have observed the ISS hundreds of times...

This is so easy to do that even a 5th grader can do it... are you as smart as a 5th grader? I rather doubt it myself...

Paul have you seen an image of the ISS or just a illuminated dote since presumable you yourself have seen the ISS, if I am not mistaken?

No, not correct.

I’ve told you what I saw.

You don’t believe it.

I don’t care.

I already told you, I saw the ISS with the naked eye, I never used a
telescope to see it, and I never saw details like solar panels, because
I did not use a telescope.

It appears as a fast-moving, very bright star and the motion is steady.
It takes several minutes to cross the sky.

It does appear to be easily viewable with a telescope as long as you can
aim it properly.

Go to the link I provided, enter your location, and then go outside at the predicted hour and look in the predicted direction and watch the darn thing for yourself. There is no need to take my word for it, see for yourself. It will be the brightest object in the sky, other than the Sun, the moon, and a couple of bright planets, except that it will be moving fast and only be in the sky for less than about 5 minutes.

Do you think that your own eyes will lie to you?
