You appear to be playing "neurologist" to argue that 45-year-old
Quayle's mental agility exceeds 80-year-old Biden's ...whereas I merely
claim that Quayle's Famous Mashed Potatoe, dripping with grownups'
condescension all over a 12-year-old at great length on national TV,
stands as a nonpareil in the history of industrial-strength gaffes --
and will do so until, say, Biden farts the State Of the Union.

I'm arguing no such thing. I'm merely pointing out the vastly different
reaction of the media and the entertainment elites to a simple
misspelled word (which wasn't actually even misspelled-- Quayle's
spelling is considered a legitimate alternate) versus the daily parade
of gaffes, stumbles, and mental lapses of the current president and his
baked vice president, and innocently wondering why there would be such a
dramatic disparity. Then I remembered that Quayle had a (R) after his
name, while Biden and Harris have a (D). Mystery solved.

"Remembered"? You mean the needlepoint motto on your pillowcase?

Good point ...unless you know that Biden very probably didn't say his,
whereas Quayle very certainly did.

(Btw, who told you -- and Dan -- that 'potatoe' is a "legitimate
alternative"? Is this like the "Devil's Triangle" game suddenly
appearing on Wiki during Kavanaugh's testimony?)

So true. Colbert said it best: "reality has a liberal bias." Still no
words of wisdom on Clarence Thomas, right? Does the fact that you're an
utter eunuch enter into the discussion at all?

"Very probably" LOL!

The fact that you can't say for sure that the president of the United
States didn't announce that his butt's been wiped to the national press
corps on the South Lawn of the White House pretty much gives away the
game regarding which is the more worrisome behavior from an official at
that level.

"Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie? I thought she was going to be
here."

Now go ahead and tell me Biden "probably" didn't say that also. Spin it
away and keep pretending that adding a stray 'e' to the end of the word
is the greater offense.

Better keep the spin machine warmed up, though. Hell, as often as Biden
adds to his Dementia Treasure Chest, it's probably due for its 100,000-
mile oil change at this point.

> (Btw, who told you -- and Dan -- that 'potatoe' is a "legitimate
> alternative"?

The Oxford New American Dictionary app on my mePhone shows this for its
potato entry:

potato |p??t?t?|
noun ( pl. potatoes; archaic: potatoe )

1 a starchy plant tuber that is one of the most important food crops,
cooked and eaten as a vegetable: roasted potatoes | the meal comes with
rice or potato | [ as modifier ] : leek and potato soup.
-- see sweet potato.

2 the plant of the nightshade family that produces these tubers on
underground runners.

[Solanum tuberosum, family Solanaceae. It was first cultivated in the
Andes about 1,800 years ago and was introduced to Europe in c. 1570.]

ORIGIN mid 16th cent.: from Spanish patata, variant of Taino batata
'sweet potato'. The English word originally denoted the sweet potato and
gained its current sense in the late 16th cent.

No, it's not like that at all.

"LOL" doesn't give a ridiculous assertion credibility. The fact is that
the audio in question is so fuzzy that it lends itself to anything
critics dream up. Like "talking dogs" who, when they utter four yelps,
are claimed to have said "elevator" or "jelly donut".

Well, *you* can't say for sure that he didn't prove the Riemann
hypothesis...

It hasn't nearly the inherent foot-in-mouth cachet of 'potatoe'.

Indeed. It's more like you imagine some parallel universe in which Dan
Quayle can spell 'archaic'...

A Washington state middle school was investigated for having students
and staff play a licking game that parents described as highly vile.

Desert Hills Middle School in Kennewick had minor students and adult
teachers compete to lick marshmallow cream off either side of two clear
plexiglass panes, a video of the incident shows. The game was held at a
school pep rally on March 31.

The video shows multiple staffers and students aggressively licking up
the four lines of cream sometimes with their tongues in the same spots
on opposite sides of the plexiglass. At one point, an adult holds a
childs head to the glass while licking the other side. Toward the end
of the video, one staffer appears to be licking the glass in a way that
one parent described as sensual.

Students can be heard screaming, Ew, Thats actually so disgusting,
Im going to throw up, Thats so gross, What the heck? and Who
thought that this was a good idea?

Shocking video from a Washington Middle School shows Teachers
participating in a licking game with underage children.

Parents were reportedly outraged after hearing about the event
and branded it disgusting and incredibly inappropriate

Source: Daily Mail pic.twitter.com/fU5xtA2cee

 Oli London (@OliLondonTV) April 20, 2023

Mother Megan Sas daughter showed her the video, and Sa posted it to
Facebook.

In my opinion, we do not send our children to school to be exposed to
highly sexualized behavior by adults, Sa told Fox News. We send them
to school to learn and for them to socialize with other people their
ages.

They shouldnt have to sit in a gym for a school assembly and wonder,
What is going on? Schools should be a safe place for children to go
and this despicable display of adult behavior was hard to watch, the
mother said.

The mom said that the principal could be seen in the video laughing and
filming the scene with his phone.

The school district opened an investigation into the incident.

Superintendent Dr. Traci Pierce said in a statement to families on
Friday that the investigation has concluded. She called the incident
not an appropriate activity.

During the activity, some students felt very uncomfortable, and the
activity was highly disturbing for some students, parents, families,
and community members to watch on video, Pierce said. This activity
does not have district approval and will never be repeated in the
future.

However, she added that the intent of the activity was innocent and
not ill-intended.

There is zero evidence to suggest or support that this was in any way
grooming activity on the part of organizers or participants, Pierce
said. That being said, the fact that the activity was planned,
occurred, and not stopped, shows a lack of sound discernment and good
judgment, and the activity is not aligned with district expectations.

Principal Casey Gant issued an apology for the activity in a statement
to parents.

On behalf of Desert Hills Middle School, I would like to apologize for
the activity that took place during our recent assembly, Gant said.
As building principal, I take ownership for the events that occur in
my school, and I recognize the impact that this situation has had on
our school community.

I am committed to the safety of our students and staff and will ensure
that all future activities meet the highest professional standards and
adhere to district policy, Gant added. Again, I apologize that this
incident occurred and for the negativity brought to the Desert Hills
community.

Sa, the mother who initially brought attention to the video, said she
is not satisfied with the principals apology, especially since no
staffers were suspended or terminated.

However, contacted for comment, the school district told The Daily Wire
it is taking corrective actions to address this incident.

Why is this surprising? This is what you get when you hire a bunch of
pink-haired pronoun people who hang the hammer and sickle on the classroom
wall to be teachers.

Multiple examples of a VP misspelling words and miscounting letters just
like Quayle did once, but for some reason Quayle's had 'cachet' and
Harris's do not. I wonder what that reason could be? I just can't quite put
my finger on it...

On the off-chance that you actually still don't get it: Quayle's
laborious mis-instruction of a 12-year-old on national TV, about a
common spelling known to %99.9 of viewers, is the historical pinnacle of
unassisted political pratfalls, at least in my recall. But if you
really think that any one of Biden's public missteps compares, by all
means do trot it out.

Very few remember Quayle, either, let alone his spelling bee. Walk down
the street and ask 100 people who Dan Quayle even is and I'd be
surprised if even five of them could tell you.

Well, I may have to concede a bit here. I Googled for major political
gaffes, and few seem to remember 'potatoe' (...though, e.g., one site
called Reagan's live-mike "we're bombing Russia" gag the winner, which I
think hadn't enough eye-rolling humor to make it even a contender).
