That's not true at all. I never said there was such a rule, applying to
anyone. Just because you're replying in a different thread doesn't you
get to make up what I've said in other threads.

Once again: you haven't shown that aapc has any GLs. You've been
flaunting a post of yours you titled "AAPC - OFFICIAL GUIDELINES &
FAQs", but so far all we've seen is that post of yours and you flaunting
it.

If you joined a group I moderate, and started posting your own "OFFICIAL
GUIDELINES & FAQs" on it, I'd kick your butt out of there.

Thank you, Zod. I'll point out that MMP is just using another standard
troll tactic. It's a standard troll tactic to tell the people you're
trolling that you're upsetting them. It's meant to insult the other
person, and hopefully, to actually upset them. Even better, the other
person might deny they're upset, meaning the troll can start a fight
about that instead.

There are many ways to whine, George.

You posted my quote on at least three different threads started by Jim.

Contextually, your post can *only* be read as an implicit whine regarding my failure to have reminded Jim about GL rule #8.

Also implicit in your post was a request that I alert Jim of his transgression.

If you are denying that the above were your reasons for reposting my message to Mack in three separate threads, please explain your actual intent for doing so.

The GLs & FAQs were developed through a series of public, group discussions, which I have already shown that you were both aware of and (initially) a participant in.

If you had any objections to the GLs and FAQs, you had four years in which to voice them.

Whining about it after the fact isn't going to accomplish anything.

No, George, your (above) complaints regarding extremely minor issues (e.g., whether you're having reposted my message to Mack in three separate threads has an implicit contextual meaning in the form of both a comment and request) strike me as the acts of someone on the point of a nervous breakdown.

Unlike your Donkey, I don't accuse others of throwing hissyfits, unless I honestly believe that they are doing just that.

In any event, I'm tired of your petty bickering.

I have posted some thoughts on "Atlas Shrugged" (a book you recently claimed that I haven't read). As our resident expert on Ayn Rand, why don't you visit that thread and offer your comments on it?

Let's keep what few literary discussions we have on AAPC going.

I already re-posted it here, George.

You just post-edited it out.

Here, for your benefit, is the complete exchange which took place above:

MMP: The rule is part of our FAQs

DONKEY: Not really, Pen...!

GEORGE DANCE: Right; a FAQ is not a set of rules.

MMP: Our GLs and FAQs are listed in the same post, the title of which is "AAPC - OFFICIAL GUIDELINES & FAQs." Both our Guidelines (GLs) and Facts and Questions (FAQs) contain rules.
The rule in question falls under our GLs section (rule #8). Please accept my apologies for any confusion my post may have caused.

GEORGE DANCE: That's what I just told Will: Why not read the previous posts before you comment on them?

MMP: Funny how you forgot to include a copy of your post that I was responding to. I posted a revision of my previous statement -- in response to your objection.

GEORGE DANCE: if you have a comment to some other posts of mine, respond to them there.

What part of this exchange are you having such difficulty with?

Again, I see no point in pursuing this discussion any further.

You are obviously either a) pretending to be incredibly dense in order to troll me into needless repetition of the same information, or b) you are just unbelievably dense.

Since the guidelines are bogus, that's what should be done.

I've been posting here for over twenty years.

It takes more than a shit spewing little monkey like Pendragon to simply walk in and take over a Usenet newsgroup.

The important point is that it's a "first portion of our proposed FAQs,"
not of "rules" or "GLs". More importantly, there's no further discussion.

see anything I object to strongly. I added my 2 poetry sites, of
course. Beyond that, I made 2 changes: I changed "critiques" to
"criticism" - I think the former word is way too pretentious, and
offputting: I know we allow comments, too, but the idea of having to
write a 'critique' may still scare some people into silence. Let's leave
the critiques to Kant. The other one word change I'd suggest is "The
vast majority" to "Many" - it's more likely to remain true, no matter
who or how many join, while still making the point. I indicated those
changes up above, XX'ing out the words I'd omit and adding the
suggestions after them. Thanks again, and please carry on."
>

since you're so interested, I'll quote something else I said in that thread:

"A FAQ is just a way to pre-answer questions; it is not what some people
tried to use the old FAQ for, as 'rules' to tell anyone how to behave."

FAQs/GLs. Not only that, but George Dance made suggestions as to the
wording of it, and George Dance thanked me for undertaking this project

I still think a FAQ has value. As I said in the same message I just quoted:
"What will a FAQ do? I think it's part of sprucing up the group. I
notice you've been promoting aapc-un on fb, and I've noticed more
readers here, probably as a result. I don't expect any one step to turn
this into a great poetry place again, but they're all steps in that
direction."

I supported your FAQ initiative just as I supported the Chimp's Sampler
initiative. I did not support you telling me what I can and can't post
on my own threads. Once again, that is not what a FAQ is for.

(which is what he will argue now), however, it specifically lists one
very important rule: "All posts *should* be related to poetry as defined
above."

Really? Yet there's no record of that that I've been able to find;
nothing between your "FAQ: First Draft of Part I" and the "Official
Guidelines" four years later.
https://groups.google.com/g/alt.arts.poetry.comments/search?q=faq%20author%3Amichael%20author%3Apendragon&hl=en

You may have been discussing it with Team Monkey on e-mail, but I
suspect you wrote this yourself. Not that there's anything wrong with
that; as I told you four years ago, it needed a person to pick up the
ball, and better you than me.

> No one voted to "accept" it, if that's what you mean. The final
draft was accepted in the sense that no one involved saw fit to offer
any further changes/corrections.

I had no problem with it, until it began being used as a pretext to
troll PPB threads.
