The US has also activated their "Civil Reserve Air Fleet" which means
that they will be using civilian aircraft and crews to ferry people to
their final destinations from where the military drop them such as Dubai
or Doha.

Projection writ large. The evidence proves otherwise. Your only

your bullshit or challenge your "authority".

The minute they do they become the enemy.

They have all been disabled before abandonment as well as all other
mobile equipment.

Short answer, no, in terms of the aircraft.

> 3) Do the Taliban have anybody who knows how to maintain them?

Again, no. Any planes would need to be transported to another country
where such facilities exist. Such facilities no longer exist in
Afghanistan. Even then, spares to make them serviceable would be
embargoed by the US so, nor repair.

Getting new parts and having people with the knowledge to maintain them
would be the biggest problem.

I doubt it, which is probably why the Yanks left them behind. If it was

You're kidding, right? I would imagine only a very small percentage of
them can drive. Most of them ride Donkeys.

The Taliban would struggle to find 4 people amongst it's "fighters" who
can pull the pin on a grenade without killing themselves.

They have been *disabled* before they were abandoned. It might be more
than getting a few new parts depending on how the disablement was
carried out.

You're not kidding! You *are* that naive! How unsurprising.

A lot of Afghans have way more education than you were ever capable of

Unfortunately, the seeds for this were sown twenty years ago, when
corruption was allowed to take root. There were lessons about that
should have been learned from Vietnam, but which weren't.

You need to be careful which media sources you watch.

I keep my media sources very broad spectrum, a necessary thing when
clowns like Murdoch control far too much of western media sources.

Yes but not the more high tech US stuff. That was stripped of high tech
equipment, then disabled. The Afghan stuff was relatively low tech, even
the Blackhawks they were given were stripped down somewhat.

That will only take you so far. Some critical parts will not be available.

What exactly do you think that they are going to do with this stuff?

To a certain extent, there won't be any top guns among them, and if they
do start annoying, US drones can certainly take them out any time.

How many Blackhawk technicians do you think that they have?

The Taliban are going to have enough trouble trying to run a country. By
the time that they have that sorted, most of the sophisticated equipment
will have degenerated beyond usefulness.

At the end of the Vietnam war, the North Vietnamese inherited the 5th
biggest airforce in the world. What did they do with it? bugger all, and
they were a lot more sophisticated than the Taliban.

It goes way back, the yanks supported the Mujahedin because they were
fighting the Russians. Partly because of their stupid belief that "Mine
enemys enemy is my friend" ignoring of course that your enemys enemy may
hate you as much as him, and partly to pay the Russians back for
supporting the North Vietnamese.

That brought Bin Lardin to prominence and we all know how that went.
George Bush went into Afghanistan to root out Bin Lardin and co, did
half a job, riled up the locals and pissed off to invade Iraq, thus
creating ISIS, and starting a civil war in Afghanistan. The Taliban knew
that the yanks would eventually get fed up with the fight and go home,
and voila we have the mess that eventuated.

They certainly will have. Military equipment isn't like commercial
equipment. What's more, the Taliban are *broke*. They were expecting to
get hold of the Afghanistan central bank's money. Sorry, that's held in
the US and, guess what, they aren't getting it any time soon.

Winning a war is but half the battle, winning the peace will be much
harder. Most of the people who would be useful to the Taliban are
currently in the process of *fleeing* the Taliban.

That might have been one left to the Afghan Airforce. It wouldn't have
been disabled, just stripped of *sensitive equipment*. Personally, I
wonder why the Afghan airforce pilots just didn't take off with the
blackhawk and any other *useful* hardware.

There was never any other option.

It wouldn't have mattered how long the Americans were there or how good
or bad they were, the locals were *always* going to hate them and run
the place how they wanted to whenever they left.

Being there was the ultimate exercise in futility.
