with a client in Rockhampton. He's not vaxxed either. Sheesh!

I explained the following to both:

* The Qld health system is fucked. The hospitals won't cope with an
influx of COVID-19 patients.

* When we Southerners (particularly schoolies) invade Qld late this
year/early next year, the epidemic will be uncontrollable. The hospitals
will be clogged with COVID-19 patients and regular patients won't get
much of a look-in. Same as happened in Vic and NSW.

* Queensland is sitting at around 68% and that figure doesn't look like
getting much higher.

You'd reckon those clowns up North would learn from we Southerners.
Apparently not.

They certainly do things differently up North, that's for sure :)

There is a big "anti vax" push at the moment in Victoria, with a bunch
of people taking a class action against the Victorian government. The
objection isn't about the vaccine itself, but the enforceement of Covid
"Passports" and the requirement of people to be fully vaccinated in
order to work in certain fields, or to even enter a department store. In
fact, there was a protest march going on in the city on Saturday
afternoon, and I got caught up in it when towing my mother's poor old
Hyundai Getz back here for repairs after some fuckwit pulled out of a
carpark without looking and side swiped it.

As far as the double vax workplace requirements go I'm in two minds
about it. On the one hand I respect people's rights to decide what they
do or don't want to put into their bodies, but on the other I'm also
mindful of the fact that we're not talking about something that *only*
affects them, and there are already plenty of existing workplace
requirements that people don't object to (such as aged care workers
being required to have regular flu shots for example).

As for people being "unsure" about the vaccines as in your brother's
case I think they couldn't be any more retarded if they want to be and
are just trying to come up with whatever bullshit excuse they can to
mask the fact that they're anti vax. There isn't a period in human
history where such a large percentage of the medical research community
has dedicated so much effort into a common cause, and with the vaccines
being in such widespread use even over such a relatively short time we
have learned all we're ever going to learn about them.

Yes, there can be side effects, and yes those side effects can be
dangerous. *No* drug is risk free, but there are many other drugs that
are nowhere near as life changing as these vaccines are that have far
greater potential for damaging side effects and the average punter
either doesn't know or if they do they don't care because they consider
those risks to be minimal at best.

Agree, its nuts and there is no valid reason for it and IMHO its a
selfish disregard of their family, friends and community.
Son was telling me last night that one of his employees involved in his
car wrecking business isn't vaxxed mostly because "no one is going to
tell me what to do", odd then that he follows many other rules and laws.
Peoples arguments against getting vaccinated are getting pretty bizarre.

Absolutely. There hasn't been another drug in human history that has had
so much of a concentrated effort put into the research, development and
application as what we're seeing with the Covid Vaccines, and given the
incredible number having been administered the actual number of negative
reactions is *so* ridiculously small it would be next to impossible to
accurately quantify.

We can, however, more accurately quantify the number of people who have
died as a result of *not* taking it.....

facts are more prosaic: Astra Zenica began development immediately after
the SARS epidemic back in 2003. It was well placed to have the COVID-19
virus identity placed in the drug and released to humans with incredible
safety. Pfizer is a more recent drug and lacks the long-term

can return home and quarantine, and has been for several weeks, after an
emergency trip to look after her sick mother. She's vaccinated as well.
They are running about 8 to 12 weeks behind in getting people home.

Yeah, and it's not been much better down here. Border restrictions have
only just eased, but there have been Victorians who haven't been able to
get home for months. It's been utterly ridiculous.

The inconsistencies within the "rules" are ridiculous.

There was a story on the news a couple of nights ago about an ex-pat
Aussie woman who's in New York who wants to make an emergency trip to
Melbourne to visit her dying father who's in aged care. She's fully
vaccinated and is able to enter the country without having to
quarantine, but she can't visit a Victorian nursing home without first
having spent 5 days in isolation and returning a negative test result.
In the mean time, her Brother who lives local and is also fully
vaccinated can come and go as he pleases.

It's fucked up.

Very likely spot on and I even wonder if trying to keep it out is the
right thing?
It will hit Qld sooner or later so is it better to be sooner and get it
over with?
NSW has got it pretty much sorted and Vic is past the peak and case
numbers on the way down so there is light at the end of the tunnel, it
would be a miracle if Qld and other states avoid another wave of Covid
so IMHO best to get it over with.
