Pretty sure I'd win, if four wheel vehicles are allowed.

TBF the main road through the village here is kept open at all times,
as it's the only Fr-CH crossing for miles around, but little things
like driving over to the vet with a sick cat when there's a good 30cm
of snow per hour can still be a challenge.

I'm sooo pleased I've finally got proper winter tyres sorted for the
Landrover. Was a challenge due to odd sizes and the fact that the OEM
steel wheels could only take tubed tyres. New wheels, properly TUV
tested to conform to Swiss MOT requirements, were sourced and fitted
just before the first heavy snows fell in December.

Front, rear, four or all wheel drive? I have good memories of an old
RWD Escort, goinng sideways in Wales, but a lot of less fun
experiences even in the Land Rover. It's different when you simply
just have to get somewhere, rather than being able to enjoy the
journey for its own sake.

Look, you go to arab countries, most women wear burkas. You go to the
American mid-west, most people are obese. You go to SoCal beach towns, a
high percentage of women are fit. No big deal. Unless you come from the

Reminds me of my very first trip on the (original, 750) Super Tenere -
picked up brand new in Yorkshire, had to run up to Scotland on the
M6/A74 through snowstorms all the way. Shap Fell was... interesting,
and the final bit of the trip cross country to Biggar was not
something that I care to remember.

my first car, bought in 1982, was a 1970, mk1 Capri with a puny 1300cc
engine.

I didn't have it in the early part of the year when we had the huge snow
dump but had it for 2 or 3 more winters. Aquaplaning on a roundabout was
the incident that got most attention and resulted in me buying new tyres!

In snow it was fun as not enough power to get into real trouble.
