I had a 2 litre Capri automatic. Tailhappy at the best of times, a
lethal beast on snow or ice.
I hate to think what the 2.8 would have been like on the slippy stuff.

We average 10" of rain per year, but last year we only got 7.8". Not
much. Weather isn't much of an excuse not to ride here.
As for sun, there is what's known as May Gray and June Gloom, when the
clouds hang around. Otherwise, there is occasional "night and morning
low clouds" which is the coastal fog that burns off by late morning.

winds, so we will be letting in anyone. Germany might be your issue.

Yup. Very straightforward. I've done it three times in the last 9 months, and am doing it again next week.

It gets even easier soon too: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jan/24/england-to-end-covid-testing-for-double-vaccinated-travellers-says-johnson

I'm itching to do a dash to Belgium, because I'm down to my last five bottles of Rochefort and I'm fucked if I'm paying a 300% markup over here when I can bring five crates back in the van. I think we're *almost* at the point where it's worth doing, and the cost of tests doesn't screw the economics.

From Feb 11th you no longer need a test to (re-)enter the UK.

The lad is sallying forth this weekend to Paris - on a pedal cycle FFS!
Only requirement seems to be a LFT before going out on the tunnel or
ferry (plus paperwork locator stuff).

Already checked that pikey F1 hotels will let him take his bicycle in to
his room.

An ambitious itinerary by pedal power, given the number of days. Still,
he is in training for a Triathlon in the spring. His mother is worried
there will be a blizzard and he will end up frozen stiff in a hedge
bottom somewhere on the 'avenue verte'.

Good man!

I keep contemplating a Euro cycle ride. In warmer months.

Hoh yuss. We may revisit the Velodyssee again. The sections near Bayonne
were great. The cycles will be transported to sunnier climes by UKRM
clit vehicle though, naturally.

If he's training for a triathlon, shouldn't he be swimming the Channel?
