Either you are pissing away tons of money in depreciation or running a
tax fiddle with some sort of lease, buying a good secondhand vehicle is
far more cost effective than new. Of course if posing is what you want
then you're pretty well forced to buy new.

P.S. 70000km is not a lot on a modern car.

A modern car, yes, you're quite correct. Except the Navara isn't a car
and it has known issues that occur not long past that 70,000km mark, not
the least of which is major timing chain issues. No doubt that is why
the original owner dumped the Navara at what *appears* to be "not a lot
on a modern car".

Certainly is, we have had our fair share of new cars but doubt we will
buy another new one.
My almost 20yr old Merc is possibly the best value for money car I've
ever owned, cost $7k almost 5 yrs ago, spent bugger all maintaining it
and its still running very well, it was a hell of a lot of car for not
much money.
I'm thinking of upgrading because I'm bored with it but nothing much
wrong with it.

Changing the timing chain ain't no big deal, just part of normal
maintenance.
