You are "dissembling*", Mike... but "nice try" anyways...

*"Dissembling is a fancy word for being tricky, slippery, and deceitful. This word isn't just for people who lie and commit fraud: it specifically has to do with pretending. If you act like you're sorry you ate the last cookie, but you're secretly happy about it, you're dissembling..."

Again Muffy, why do you quote nasty stuff like that? Because you want
to say it yourself but don't have the balls, so you hide behind
someone else?

Mail-in or absentee? You used to have to have a damned good reason to
vote absentee. And no, I've never voted mail-in or absentee.
If you can't get your butt down to the polling station to vote in
person (or vote absentee, not mail-in), you don't care enough about
voting to have a voice.

Yup! That's how military vote from all over the world. I didn't
become a Virginia resident until 31May2009. Couldn't until I brought
in my DD214 (honorable retirement paperwork proof). That let me
register to vote in the state of Virginia vice South Carolina. Also
simplified my taxes as I was paying state taxes in SC until the and now
Don and I both pay Virginia.

Following that logic, you are in line behind both of us.

Of course, with you, it's all about ass-sniffing.

Oh, that's a fantasy. The yeoman citizenry lining up to do their
sacred duty, emerging shriven with the "I voted" sticker. How is
the form of voting more important than the act of voting?

Until 2018, in Michigan in order to vote absentee you had to be
1) 60 years of age or older
2) Out of town
3) Physically unable to attend the polls without assistance
4) Unable to attend the polls because of the tenets of one's religion
5) Appointed as an election inspector in another precinct
6) Confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial

Then the good citizens of the State of Michigan decided that was
bullshit. We now call it "no-reason absentee voting". You have
to request a ballot. You can ask your local clerk to add you
to a list to have the request form sent to you for every election.

Democracy in action.

I've voted absentee in every election since I turned 60. It's
nice. I can research the issues and candidates as I fill out
my ballot. I don't have to stand in line with a bunch of
strangers who mean less to me than you do.

The states that have implemented true mail-in voting have had
no trouble with it.

Trump used it in Florida himself. If it is good enough for Honest Don,
it is good enough for me.

Ahh... but the manufactured "disgust" of Trump is a sign that he is
irritating the powers that be. I think there can be no surer sign that
Trump is the right choice, than when the media is all against him.

In sweden the public education has also been dismantled and in some places
they want to have sex education for children, and some actually believe
that gender is a choice.

I would never have dreamt that I would experience humanity retrogress so
much in my life. Before I used to believe in progress, but now I'm not so
sure.

Hopefully people will wake up. When politics fights against reality,
eventually reality wins. Let's just hope it is not too late. In november
we'll know.

That reminds me when Trump passed a dementia test years ago, and

They can't be too good if they weren't sounding that alarm 8 years ago
when he started his first run at the presidency. I thought it was pretty
obvious at that time that he was nuts. When he won the nomination I
assumed that they had just given the presidency to Hillary Clinton.

Nuts and demented are two different things. For instance, I don't
think you suffer from dementia.

They've been saying since 2016 that he's a malignant narcissist and
sociopath. Now they're adding his increasingly obvious dementia.

Like most reasonable Americans, I wish we had a younger Democratic
candidate. I like what Biden's been doing (except continuing to
enable Israel to commit war crimes), so I'll be happy to vote for
him in November.

I agree. I've always sided with Israel, but Netanyahu's a war
criminal. Then again, the right wing of any country's a despicable
bunch of people.

It's been so obvious for so long I don't know how anyone could not see
it. He is a whacko.

I can't get too excited over Israel's reaction to Hamas's violent
incursion into Israel, the murder of 1500 innocent civilians and the
taking of hostages. People are screaming for a cease fire when they
should be screaming for Hamas to give up the hostages. The bastards
underestimated Israel's response to their atrocities and they are being
given something to think about the next time they want to try something
like that.

Exactly! Hamas can end the war tomorrow by just giving up the hostages but
instead they are the ones who want to sacrifice their own people for their
own financial benefit and power. Horrible how so many antisemites cannot
see this.

You'd be surprised - I wasn't antisemitic until Netanyahu went beserk
and doesn't give a damn how many little kids they kill in the name of
politics. Now if any Jewish person says holocaust to me, I'll ask
them if they mean Gaza!

It could stop in a minute if Hamas threw in the towel and released the
hostages. Given that this all started with Hamas conducting a massive
atrocity by invading, killing innocent people and taking 250 hostages, I
cannot expect Israel to let up until the hostages are released.

The man I work with went to a Christian church to hear a Rabbi who was
recently back from Israel talk about what is going on over there. He
blames the Shi'a Iranians backing the conflict in an attempt to take
over the entire region. I wouldn't discount it.

Current wars in the Middle East have little to do with the halocaust and
Hitler rounding up Jewish people (or any other "undesirables") and
shipping them off to death camps in WWII. You cannot compare the two.

It is a difficult situation. I think we all know that Israel's
neighbours don't want them there. Some are more strongly opposed to
Israel than the others. We also know that after all the years of
conflict and Palestinians living in refugee camps, no one else seems to
want them. Part of that may be their not wanting to legitimize Israel's
occupation.

Israel has certainly not been without fault in the ongoing conflict.
There has certainly been lots of provocation on their part. Near the top
of the list is Israel's tolerance of the "settlements" on occupied land.

The images coming out of Gaza these days are pretty appalling. The
people looked so much happier back on Oct. 7 when they were celebrating
in the streets over having given Israel a black eye.
