Eleven European countries for me. I am counting England simply because I had a flight layover there. No cycling there, but I was in London, technically. Cycled in all of the others.

True. However, my comments addressed Tom's use of electron volts when
he should have been using volts. They're quite different. It's an
easy mistake for a beginning student to make, but hardly a mistake I
would expect from an experienced scientist.

"What exactly is an ELECTRON VOLT as opposed to a VOLT?"
<https://www.physlink.com/education/askexperts/ae45.cfm>

Getting millions of volts out of a Van de Graaff, Marx, or Tesla
generator requires very careful insulation which usually results in a
fairly large machine.
"Van de Graaff generator"
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_de_Graaff_generator>
"The voltage produced by an open-air Van de Graaff machine is limited
by arcing and corona discharge to about 5 MV. Most modern industrial
machines are enclosed in a pressurized tank of insulating gas; these
can achieve potentials as large as about 25 MV."

There is a serious problem in your head but at least you have enough sense not to lose all of your money betting on the stupid ideas you have. Tell me again about how I didn't work on a 6 million electron volt machine at Physics International because you can't find a patent for something like that. Another one of your Google geniuses. You're so stupid that you cannot even tell the difference between a company performing commercial work and a fucking magazine.

So, you don't know the calculation of eV to joules either. Or perhaps you simply are like Russell and can't perform complex equations. When a large concrete building is shaken by the discharge energy tell us all about this fly taking one step.

>So, you don't know the calculation of eV to joules either. Or perhaps you simply are like Russell and can't perform complex equations. When a large concrete building is shaken by the discharge energy tell us all about this fly taking one step.

I prefer to judge people by their willingness and ability to learn.
You fail both of those as it's obvious that you still don't know the
difference between volts and electron volts, even after I provided you
with a link that explains the difference. I suspect that you've never
done anything involving physics which requires knowing the basic units
of measure. It's like when you failed to properly expand the acronyms
of LBNL and LLNL. If you had worked there, you should have known the
correct full name.

I also judge people not by the answers they provide, but by the
questions they ask. I get a much better picture of the depth of their
understanding by their choice of questions, than by their alleged
knowledge. You also fail this test because your questions usually
have nothing to do with the problem at hand, and commonly involve an
unrelated topic of little interest to anyone. When you don't know the
answer, don't understand the problem, or don't have anything to say,
you change the topic and spew insults. These are not the way a
scientist would be expected to act, but rather the way a school yard
bully would respond after being embarrassed by his lack of knowledge
and understanding.

This might help you understand that it's not about your "amazing
facts" but rather your understanding of a topic.
"Richard Feynman on education in Brazil"
<https://v.cx/2010/04/feynman-brazil-education>
"After a lot of investigation, I finally figured out that the students
had memorized everything, but they didn’t know what anything meant."

However, you are correct about one item. I don't know the conversion
factor between eV and joules. Except for common units of measure, I
would not expect anyone to memorize conversion factors. I know a few
from my work in electronics and kitchen chemistry, but not much else.
Again, I remind you that what anyone else knows, has done, has
accomplished, or understands, has nothing to do with what YOU know,
what YOU have done, what YOU have allegedly accomplished, or what YOU
are able to understand. Demonstrating someone else's lack of
knowledge or ability does not make you a more knowledgeable or better
person. My inability to properly ride a bicycle does not magically
make you a better rider or racer.

Now I'm supposed to be impressed when you don't even have a passing understanding that .01 farads represents a LOT of electrons and accelerating those electrons with 6 Million volts is a lot of energy. https://www.gigacalculator.com/calculators/capacitor-charge-calculator.php Set the values for 10 mFarads, and 6 Million Volts and why is it that I get 180 Billion Joules? Does that seem enough to move a fly's leg?

I told you that firing this thing would shake a large concrete building and apparently you couldn't or wouldn't understand that. Shooting this spark into a High Z material was just short of a nuclear explosion. But I'm the one who cannot learn whereas you're brilliant in your own mind. We had to protect ourselves from the radiation with 9 feet of lead lined concrete blocks that took a fork lift to move between us and the target chamber.

Now explain to me that I don't know what I'm talking about then prove it because PI doesn't have any patents on public accelerator knowledge. You are simply unbelievable. There isn't a trace of intelligence in your head as you prove with you don't even know what an HP 6310 inkjet printer is. You can Google what you think is 6 Million electron Volts but you couldn't even Google an HP printer.

Well yes, you don't know what I am talking about. I was talking about
your confusion between electron volts and volts. You ran off into the
weeds with Physics International, computational results without a clue
how they were derived, accelerators of something unspecified, and
inkjet printers. Please concentrate on understanding that electron
volts are a measure of energy and volts are a measure of potential

suppose to impress everyone with your vast collection of buzzwords:
"What exactly is an ELECTRON VOLT as opposed to a VOLT?"

By the way, you previously caught me with the "High Z" term before. It
won't work a 2nd time. In electronics, High Z means high impedance.
In physics, High Z means high atomic number.

ZZZZZzzzzzzz.....

No, you are too stupid to understand it. It is inconceivable to you that you have been accelerating 1 electron with 6 million volts and not 60 10 millifarads capacitors each charged with 100,000 volts and then discharged in series to get the 6 million volts. It is talking to a fool that will say absolutely anything simply to be able to think he has had the last word. You don't even know what High Z means in the context of an accelerator. Tell me you stupid ass, what happens if you inject a beam of electrons into a high atomic number target? YOU DON'T KNOW but you will continue shooting your mouth off anyway. Go back to trying to tell us that there's no such thing as an HP 6310 printer. Most of your group are smart enough to look it up and see what an incomprehensible ass you are.

You're correct. I have no idea what you are talking about and I don't
know much about particle physics. I also have no idea how your
confused muddle explains your misuse of the terms electron volts and
volts.

Let me know when you remember to provide a link to the device you were
allegedly working on at Physics International. I want to read about
the device so I can interrogate you with embarrassing questions that
demonstrate how little you know about it. I'm sure you won't mind
because you obviously enjoy the attention.

>Go back to trying to tell us that there's no such thing as an HP 6310 printer.

I previously provided you with a link to the device. You left out
part of the name (OfficeJet). I also mentioned that it was 16 years
old. You also neglect to provide the model numbers and details on the
two other HP inkjet printers, owned by you and your wife, that would
only print 50 pages before running out of ink.

I thought you didn't like people who used Google to lookup things?
Now, you're suggesting that we are smart to lookup information you
can't seem to be able to supply. Please make up what's left of your
mind. Is looking things up with Google good or bad?

I have no idea why you would find my ass incomprehensible. Would you
like a photograph to help you understand my ass? If you can't
comprehend that, perhaps using a better term will improve your
communications skills?

Since you know nothing about particle physics why are you pretending you do? What did ANY of this subject which you understand nothing about become a subject which you are commenting on? Your death will come soon but none too soon for this group.

Why do you act as though you understand particle physics when you don't? What did ANY of this subject—about which you know nothing—become that you are making comments on? Your passing won't be far off, but for this group, it won't be too soon.

Ahh, poor little fool of a horses ass Lieberman felt the need to use a pseudonym. Without a trace of knowledge about subatomic particles or other particle physics he thinks he can comment on it because, after all he is a Jew and Jews were the physicists for a long time after WW II. Too bd your sorry little sick ass is so close to death thanks to your pals and buddies at the NIH and CDC.

I just read a meta-study of masks telling us that masks worked 97% better than no masks at all. Too bad that the study was so flawed it appeared to be done by someone only 500 times smarter than you.. I shall now put this ID into the killfile.

Nope. Not me. Are you perhaps running out of diversionary topics?

I knew that you were looking attention, but I never even imagined that
you required my personal attention. I'm honored but busy right now.
Please find someone else who will give you the attention, abuse, and

I recent came across a news article that seems to say that people who
lie on, what do they call them? Social Media? Can be sued and in the
case mentioned awarded $4 million...

Part of the problem with your plan is the old blood out of a turnip phrase. Even if we won the lawsuit against Tommy boy for lying. Which would be easy to win. Where would we get the money? Tommy of course lies and claims to be worth a fortune. But of course we all know its a lie. He lives on social security. And rants and raves about not being able to buy groceries.. Supposedly his house could be sold for a fortune in California. But the real estate market has cooled recently. And he does live in a ghetto. He tells us that everyday. So how much is his slum really worth? We would be lucky to even cover the costs of suing Tommy. And I am not all that big on moral victories.

Well, yes, you are right. But on the other hand, every time old Tommy
got off on one of his rants we could reply, "Hey! Loud Mouth, when are
you going to pay us the Umpteen Million that you owe."

I know that it is a really "far out" suppression but it might even
shame Tommy into telling the truth. I believe that Jeff as been
keeping track and Tommy' tales have gotten all the way up to "1" on
the truth count chart, but that is only been over the past 17 years or
so, so perhaps there is still hope.

John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John, John. Just listen to the nonsense you are saying. Maybe you need to go on one of those all night benders and go to those hashish houses for a few hours. Maybe that will get your mind thinking straight again. Tommy, telling the truth? Ha Ha Ho Ho.

No Hash Houses here but regarding Tommy and the Truth... You must
admit that technically, if not logically, it MIGHT happen (:-)

Tommy of course lies and claims to be worth a fortune. But of course we all know its a lie. He lives on social security. And rants and raves about not being able to buy groceries. Supposedly his house could be sold for a fortune in California. But the real estate market has cooled recently. And he does live in a ghetto. He tells us that everyday. So how much is his slum really worth? We would be lucky to even cover the costs of suing Tommy. And I am not all that big on moral victories.

"technically, if not logically"? Alright, I'll give you that. I've spent most of my life thinking technical matters were logical. Leave it to our Tommy boy to upend that theory.

Well... "Technically", my dictionary tells me, can be used in the
sense of "according to the exact meaning; according to the fact", So
"technically is an acceptable word to use for tommy and the truth.....
Or, I suppose, one could say something like, "Well, in theory, it is
physically possible...." which I agree is probably a more easily
understood phrase.

But, on the other hand, Jeff's statistics appear to demonstrate that
tommy got it right once in something like 17 years, so the chances
are, statistically, very, very, very, very, small.
