It is a big deal on a Navara. BTW, the timing chain, on most cars, is
*not* part of normal maintenance. On most cars, the chain will last the
normal service life of the engine, ie. it will get changed when the
engine itself is due for an overhaul. You must be mixing chains up with
*belts*. My Toyota has a chain on the camshaft. There is *no* scheduled
maintenance on the chain. On Toyotas, and any other engine with a chain
driven camshaft with hydraulic VVT, *oil changes* are critical as the
VVT mechanism will clag up. Chain guides may also suffer premature wear
but that chain - it just keeps on keeping on.

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.

I was looking at a Merc some time ago, I checked on any problems that
may exist, it wasn't the timing chain itself that was the problem but
the sprockets had wear problems, so it came to more or less the same
thing in the end.

It needs a better oil and regular changes. If the sprockets are wearing,
that is pointing to a chain wear issue with increased pitch. Might be
advisable to go with an oil that exceeds the manufacturers requirements.

That'd be Yelva in a nutshell. He leases a new wankmobile every 4 years
to make himself look like a poonce, while stacking up a 60% residual to
pass onto the next heap of shit he decides will blow smoke up his arse
while drinking his Skinny Soy Latte.

> P.S. 70000km is not a lot on a modern car.

68 thousand actually, but that's near enough for the FLC :)

And you're right. 70 thousand on a 4 year old car is relatively low
mileage, and no problem at all.

It is on some vehicles. It's funny, but you'll get knobs like Jerky make
a noise about how timing chains are a massive problem for Navaras, but
he never seems to say anything about Commodore engines that suffered
from the same problem :)

Either way, it doesn't apply to my ute and is yet *another* example of
Clasener not having the slightest clue what he's talking about. I don't
own a 4 cylinder powered Navara with the Nissan YD25 engine as he's
implying. I own a 2012 STX-550 which was a special low volume model that
has a Renault V9X engine which is a 3 litre V6 turbo diesel, and just to
clear up his invented bullshit about why the previous owner sold it, he
did so because he had changed jobs and no longer needed a ute. He worked
for a construction company that built office and apartment complexes as
a site supervisor and his job was basically to visit the various sites
and make sure things were running according to schedule. As he said the
most he had ever carried in the back of the thing was a nail gun, and he
used the ute more to take his wife and kids away on annual holidays than
he did as a workhorse.

At the time he was offering the ute for sale he'd changed his role to
one where he worked permanently in the company office, and had bought
himself a new Ford Focus RS. He never traded the ute because it had a
year left on it's 5 year lease and he thought he could get more for it
selling it privately than what the dealer was offering. I paid 35 and a
half grand for it at the time which I was more than happy with, and the
best part about it is that today it's only just ticked over 120 thousand
km's, and thanks to Covid pushing the price of everything up I could get
high 20's for it tomorrow.

Had the thing 6 years now and it's been perfect, despite the claims of
impending doom from the experts :)

These are all things I've mentioned before, and Clasener is aware of
them, but he deliberately ignores them as to *not* do so denies him the
right to invent a bullshit story to argue about as he's doing here. He
has absolutely *no* idea what he's talking about, and considering that
he last worked as a "mechanic" when Malcomn Frazer was Prime Minister
and who's last barely relevant connection to the motor trade ended *25
years* ago when he faked a back injury and retired early it's not hard
to understand why this loud mouthed moron gets *so* much stuff wrong.

He is a completely irrelevant noise making fuckwit.

It's Felix. This is a bloke who thought changing a rear axle ratio gave

Ah Darren, you are the one with a back *injury*, not me. Having a back

Wrong again keith. The reality is that you're too egotistical to ever
admit either that you're wrong or that you've been done.

Oh, and after you recently boasted about your massive salary I asked why
then are you dwelling in the backblocks. Still waiting for an answer on
that. "It's called retirement, living a full and happy life after putting
in a lot of work over the years" doesn't cut it.

> if he could, he'd be living in Noosa not Wurtulla.

Wrong again keith. But funny you should mention it. I am considering a move
to Cotton Tree/M'dore. (Noosa is too far from, well, anywhere).
Oh and btw, you and The Fraudster should get your stories straight. He
tells everyone that I live in Moffat Beach. I'd suggest a duel to the death
to resolve your differences.

Well keith, you've really blown your head gasket here. Anyone who describes
the magnificent Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio (not to mention the sexy little
4C) as a pretentious Fiat is indisputably whacko.

Anyhoo, while I appreciate and enjoy surrealism as much as the next person
in the Dali Museum, this is the end for me in these 'exchanges' about my
choice of *car*. Being attacked, however feebly, over my choice of a
perfectly decent car in a group named *aus.cars* is impossible to take
seriously so I'm not going to encourage it anymore. Don't worry though!
There's plenty of alternative subjects that you chucklewits can make fools
of yourself over!

Adding Maserati to the list. Quattroporte, sigh...

Not so much the "sprockets" but the VVT actuators inside the sprockets,
they are a problem on lots of engines, certain model Mercs, BMW and even
Toyotas, last week I replaced an exhaust VVT actuator on a Toyota 3SGE
Beams engine.

My 6 year old Mazda 3 has 80K on it maybe I should trade it in before
the engine implodes, and the 30 year old MX-5 has 137K on the clock, it
must be on overtime.

I wonder how many km's Clasener has on his poverty pack Corolla? Must be
due to explode any time soon. Oh, wait. I know what he'll say: "No, it
won't. It's a Toyota and they're bullet proof".

Which is something that only a completely clueless mong could ever

Close to 120,000 on the Toy, expect the engine and trans to double that
without the slightest issue, maybe triple it. It's a good habit that
Toyotas have.

FWIW, I never use the term "bullet proof", only clueless mongs use that.
I prefer to think of Toyotas as eminently *reliable* and that's what I
ask of any car that I own from new. Toyotas have a world acclaimed
reputation for reliability, Nissans not so much (not even close),
especially those equipped with *Jatco Autos*.

Seems like a good time to remind the Fraud, he who has claimed to have
'advised' many friends (for a fee) on buying a car, of the outcome of
'Darrens Grouse New Car Buying Plan'...
